How This Role Impacts Live Oak and its People
The Senior Analyst, Lender Finance will enable the success of the team by underwriting financing opportunities involving Private Credit non-bank lenders as well as aiding in portfolio management. The ideal candidate will possess strong credit analysis skills, a deep understanding of Private Credit lending platforms, the ability to assess collateral quality & performance, and the ability to assess complex financing structures. The Senior Analyst will work closely with originations, portfolio management, legal, and risk teams to structure, analyze, and recommend credit facilities that align with Live Oak's risk appetite and strategic objectives.
What You'll Do at Live Oak
  • Prescreen Deals: help evaluate, manage, and present Lender Finance opportunities
  • Loan Documentation: review, manage, and negotiate the loan documentation process through closing
  • Underwriting: spread & analyze borrower financials, evaluate portfolio characteristics, collateral performance, collateral quality trends, historical loss performance, concentration risks, originator underwriting practices, originator servicing capabilities, and market dynamics
  • In partnership with Loan Officers, create the appropriate credit overview materials and present them to Credit for initial approval
  • Help structure financing facilities, including warehouse lines, revolving credit facilities, term loans, and asset-backed lending transactions
  • Portfolio Management: help manage the quarterly Portfolio Review including processing and completing updated risk-rating worksheets for each client
  • Assist the Loan Officer as appropriate during term sheet negotiations
  • Collaborate with legal counsel and transaction teams during due diligence, documentation, and closing processes
  • Stay informed on market trends, industry developments, and competitive dynamics within the Lender Finance and Private Credit sectors
  • Manage the internal process for Amendments and Renewals and assist the Loan Officer externally as appropriate
  • Participate in ongoing client calls as part of the ongoing portfolio management process
  • Assist with the credit post-closing
  • Participate in other strategic initiatives and credit-related projects as needed; this may include identifying new opportunities (credit or otherwise) within the existing portfolio and working to expand key Lender Finance relationships
  • Primary responsibilities will include assisting the lending team on all aspects of the lending process
  • Manage the credit transaction process from approval through post-closing
  • Responsible for underwriting complex credits
  • Works closely with the lending and closing departments to coordinate pre-closing activities, loan documentation review and negotiation, as well as other responsibilities throughout the closing process
  • Maintains current and in-depth knowledge of banking and lending products, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, as well as market and industry activities and trends
  • Ensure proper monitoring of current loans, financial performance updates, and portfolio review
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
  • Maintain a high standard of regulatory awareness including BSA, AML, CIP, and OFAC

Required Experience
  • 2 to 5+ years of underwriting experience, with direct Lender Finance or Private Credit experience
  • Strong knowledge in the Private Credit and Direct Lending ecosystem
  • Experience evaluating lending platforms, loan portfolios, and structured credit transactions
  • Advanced knowledge of various types of loans, credit analysis, spreading and analyzing financial statements, risk analysis, credit scoring, loan documentation, etc
  • Strong working knowledge of banking products, services, policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Strong client product and relationship management skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage workload
  • Strong credit and underwriting knowledge

Preferred Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Finance
  • Underwriting background
  • Knowledge of Lower Middle Market, Middle Market, Real Estate, and Venture asset classes
  • Excellent internal and external customer service and relationship management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Maintain effective working relationships with all levels of bank personnel
  • Prioritize responsibilities as part of a team managing multiple workstreams
  • Critically analyze new lending opportunities for businesses operating in a variety of industries nationwide
  • Manage a book of diverse clients in accordance with Live Oak Bank policies and procedures

The base pay range for this position is $113,080.00 - $154,200.00 per year. Compensation may also include annual bonuses and long-term incentives, subject to various metrics and company policy. A candidate's salary is determined by several factors including travel, relevant work experience or skills and expertise.
