Job Description
The primary responsibility of Drafter V is to deliver complete and accurate drafting outputs, including drawings, shop details, and bills of materials (BOMs) while ensuring high quality and on-time delivery aligned with customer-specific requirements. This role demands advanced technical knowledge of commercial building systems, pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMBs), detailing tools such as AutoCAD, and a deep understanding of interdepartmental processes and services. Strong proficiency in advanced trigonometry and geometry is also required.
  • Produce neat, accurate, and easy-to-follow fabrication documents that align with design calculations and manufacturing limitations.
  • Generate precise permit, approval, and erection drawings that comply with purchase order requirements and guide material installation.
  • Maintain tight project schedules, often accommodating last-minute changes or shifting priorities.
  • Communicate challenges and project needs to Project Engineers, Design Engineers, and Detailers to ensure timely technical resolution.
  • Respond promptly to calls, emails, and inquiries from customers, design teams, or manufacturing, ensuring minimal impact to project timelines.
  • Provide expert-level solutions for field issues and generate the necessary documentation to support customer service.
  • Continuously enhance productivity, accuracy, and technical expertise.
  • Support and enforce drafting standards used by production detailers.
  • Represent the company's interests when investigating field modifications.
  • Work overtime as needed to meet critical deadlines.
  • Understand your role within the broader project system, and step beyond it when necessary.
  • Give and receive back-checking comments as a key part of professional development and team collaboration.
  • Coach, mentor, and train less experienced drafters.
  • Partner closely with builders and manufacturing stakeholders to drive project success.
  • Manage multiple complex projects through fabrication and erection phases, while balancing overlapping individual responsibilities.
  • Ensure conformance with defined engineering processes and initiate corrective actions as needed to maintain compliance with quality standards.
  • Lead initiatives to improve quality, drive innovation, and increase efficiency.

Qualifications
Drafter III
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in metal building drafting.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience using Tekla, AutoCAD, Revit, Trimble Connect, and other detailing software.
  • Highly detail-oriented, with demonstrated experience managing multiple projects through fabrication and erection phases.
  • Adaptable team player with strong interpersonal communication skills.
