But Cape Henlopen offers more than just the ocean and bays. A wide selection of activities and programs for children and adults are led by Seaside Nature Center staff each week.

Fort Miles is a special place for history enthusiasts, veterans, families, or anyone interested in learning about Delaware stories, Delaware heroes and Delaware's role in WWII.

Summary Statement
A variety of seasonal Park Interpreter positions may be available at Cape Henlopen State Park:
Park Interpreter: $16.75 - Responsible for developing and conducting interpretive programs that will increase the students and visitor's awareness of their surrounding environment and foster the appreciation, enjoyment, and utilization of Delaware State Parks cultural and natural resources. In addition, this post involves the care and maintenance of the Nature Centers live animal exhibits.
Historical Park Interpreter: $16.75 - Duties will include assisting with the museum's collection and working with historic weapons at Fort Miles.
Day Camp Co-Director- $19.00 - responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading activities for summer day camps. Duties include creating and maintaining a fun, positive and safe camp environment for campers and staff.
Assistant Day Camp Director: $17.00 - responsible for leading daily activities for summer day camps. Duties include creating and maintaining a fun, positive and safe camp environment for campers and staff.
Work is performed indoors and outdoors, weekends, evenings and holidays as scheduled to meet facility needs.
Essential Functions
Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class. • May deliver interpretive programs to participants of all ages in a variety of contexts.
• May Interpret the history of Fort Miles to visitors on a daily basis.
• May become black powder certified and fire a World War II-era artillery piece.
• Develop and maintain exhibits, park bulletin boards and educational material.
• Provides general customer service and park information to visitors.
• May lead educational and recreational hikes for park visitors.
• May include live animal care and handling.
• Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability and good communication skills.
• Maintain a positive attitude.
• Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
Park Interpreter
1. Six months experience working with children and young adults such as environmental educator/classroom assistant, academic/athletic tutoring, camp counselor, or youth volunteer.
2. Experience with care and handling of animals.
3. Knowledge of natural, cultural, historical resources or parks and recreation.
4. Knowledge of public speaking or interpretation.
5. Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
Historical Park Interpreter
1. College coursework in history or interpretation.
2. Experience teaching and/or interpretation with public groups.
3. Experience with care and maintenance historical artifacts, and/or research.
4. Knowledge of WWII history and local Delaware history preferred.
5. Knowledge of public speaking or interpretation.
6. Possession of a valid driver's license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
Day Camp Co-Director
1. Must be at least 21 years of age.
2. One year experience working in a camp program for children or young adults.
3. One year experience in supervising groups, staff or volunteers.
4. Knowledge of various recreational activities such as hiking, mountain biking, boating, rock climbing or swimming. 5. Knowledge of local plants, animals or history.
6. Possession of a valid driver's license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
Assistant Day Camp Director
1. Must be at least 20 years of age.
2. Three months experience working in a camp program for children or young adults.
3. Three months experience in supervising groups, staff or volunteers.
4. Knowledge of various recreational activities such as hiking, mountain biking, boating, rock climbing or swimming. 5. Knowledge of local plants, animals or history.
6. Possession of a valid driver's license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
