Job description

Seasonal / Part-Time (Summer & Break Camps)

Are you a master of the written word and a wizard of the podium? GradePower Learning Cary is looking for an energetic, creative, and organized Camp Coordinator & Instructor to lead our premier English Language & Creativity camps.

At GradePower Learning, we don’t just tutor; we help students develop the cognitive skills they need to succeed for a lifetime. We are looking for an educator who can transform "boring" writing into an adventure and turn a shy student into a confident debater.

Position Requirements:

This isn't your average "sit and work" tutoring role. You will be the architect and the face of our specialty camps. Your mission: to design and deliver high-energy sessions that focus on:

  • Creative Writing & Storytelling: Helping students find their voice through narrative and imaginative play.

  • The Power of Persuasion: Teaching the fundamentals of Debate, Group Discussion, and Public Speaking.

  • Academic Foundations: Masterclasses on paragraph structure and formal Essay Writing.

  • Camp Coordination: Managing schedules, organizing materials, and ensuring a fun, safe, and productive environment for all campers.

Who You Are
  • An Expert Communicator: You know your way around an Oxford comma, but you also know how to command a room.

  • A Creative Spirit: You can design curriculum that makes learning "The Art of the Paragraph" feel like a game.

  • A Natural Leader: You enjoy coordinating logistics and leading a group of young, curious minds.

  • Experienced: You have a background in Education, English, Communications, or a related field (Prior experience with GradePower or similar learning centers is a huge plus!).

We encourage you to apply if you have the majority of the following requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
  • Teaching certification an asset
  • Good knowledge of the current first grade to 12th grade curriculum

Experience:

  • Some experience teaching/tutoring at a first grade to 12th grade (or equivalent) level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills and ability to guide students' understanding
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time

Smiles, High-Fives & Happy Students:

In this position, you will play a key role in helping students develop their self-confidence and self-esteem. The rewards of helping children overcome academic hurdles and realize their inner potential can be very fulfilling. You will be rewarded with smiling faces and high-fives during every shift. Other rewards of the role include:

  • fun staff events
  • ongoing training opportunities
  • frequent check-ins and feedback
  • company growth opportunities
  • hands-on development of your teaching skills

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $15 - $18 / hour

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
