A successful candidate will be passionate to provide exceptional guest service and ensures passengers' safe, legal, and efficient flow through the busiest airport in Wisconsin. The AOC2s spend their day outside driving on the airfield ready to react and respond to incidents, events, opportunities, and complaints in a professional manner and takes appropriate actions. Every day and every shift are different at MKE. AOC2s need to be adaptable, detail-oriented, and can think on their feet in a potentially stressful environment. All while remembering and ensuring compliance with 14 CFR 77, 139, and 49 CFR 1542.

This position exists to comply with Federal Aviation Administration 14CFRPart139 and Transportation Security Administration 49CFRPart1542 regulations required to operate a commercial airport, General Mitchell International Airport (MKE), and a general aviation airport, Lawrence J. Timmerman Airport (MWC).  The Airport Operations Coordinator II performs daily inspections to ensure facilities and airfield are within applicable standards; represents airport management until relieved by higher authority.

Your Job Duties May Include…

  • Daily inspections of airfield and airport facilities - Ensures compliance with Federal, State, County and Airport policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and ordinances.
  • Coordinate snow removal efforts on airfield and airport facilities - Make sound decisions based on established procedures and resolve issues in a professional manner.
  • Coordinate airport construction and maintenance airfield projects - Anticipate consequences of airfield construction/repair projects relative to maintaining airport, airfield safety and operational needs.
  • Respond to incidents, accidents of various size - Take charge until relieved by higher authority; investigate cause; take appropriate measures to correct issues. Make sound and timely decisions under stressful conditions.
  • Complete assorted reports to document events at airport - Write clear and concise reports; possess knowledge of computer systems.
  • Coordinate VIP movements and special operations/events - Anticipate effects that large crowds and/or special VIP-handling requests will have on normal airport operations.
  • Respond to terminal, facility, and security incidents as needed - When dispatched, respond to terminal, facility and security events as needed. Assist Milwaukee County Fire Department in second-responder capacity.
  • Meet with airport users/tenants to resolve operational problems - Make sound decisions based on established procedures; maintain good working relationships with internal and external agencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management - Prioritize tasks accordingly based on operational need; resolve issues in a professional manner.
  • Training – Provide and support on-the-job training for new employees.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Authorized to work in USA.
  • Valid Driver’s License at time of application with the ability to obtain a Wisconsin Driver’s license within six (6) months of hire. Must maintain a valid license throughout employment.
  • Employees must undergo a criminal history background check to maintain security clearance for unescorted access to secured areas of the airport.
  • High School Diploma and at least three (3) years of experience in Airport Operations -OR- Bachelor’s degree in aviation management or related field or at least one (1) year of experience in Airport Operations.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 20 lbs. and push/pull up to 20 lbs. on an occasional basis.

Preferred Experience:

  • Preferred - AAAE Airport Certified Employee-Operations
  • Preferred - AAAE Certified Member
