Live In Rota Nanny information

What is a live in rota nanny?

A Live In Rota Nanny is a professional caregiver who works on a rotating schedule, typically alternating with another nanny to provide 24/7 childcare. This schedule could be one or two weeks on, followed by the same time off. The nanny lives with the family during their shift, ensuring consistent care and stability for the children. This role often involves childcare, educational activities, meal preparation, and light housekeeping related to the children. It's a great option for families who need continuous childcare with structured time off for the nanny.

What does a typical rota schedule look like for a live in rota nanny, and how does it impact work-life balance?

A typical rota schedule for a Live In Rota Nanny often involves working intense shifts—such as one or two weeks on followed by an equal period off—where you provide round-the-clock care and support to the children. This structure allows for concentrated periods of work followed by extended time off, helping nannies maintain a good work-life balance and recover between shifts. During your working period, you may collaborate closely with other nannies or household staff, ensuring continuous support and coverage. This setup is ideal for those who prefer longer breaks and the opportunity to focus fully on the children during their working weeks.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a live in rota nanny, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Live In Rota Nanny, you need substantial childcare experience, a genuine passion for working with children, and often relevant certifications such as pediatric first aid and DBS/CRB checks. Familiarity with household management systems, communication apps for family coordination, and knowledge of child safety protocols are commonly expected. Outstanding soft skills include adaptability, discretion, excellent communication, and the ability to work seamlessly as part of a team of caregivers. These abilities are crucial for providing consistent, high-quality care within a structured rota schedule while balancing the needs of both children and the household.

Job description

AUSTIN, TX (OPEN TO FLY-IN/FLY-OUT) – Prominent UHNW Family Seeking Exceptional Full-Time ROTA Nanny

A warm, respectful, and fully staffed UHNW family based in Austin, Texas is seeking an experienced, engaging, and highly professional Full-Time ROTA Nanny to join their childcare team. This position will primarily focus on the family's 13-month-old son, while working collaboratively with a second full-time ROTA nanny whose primary responsibility is their almost 3-year-old daughter. Together, the two nannies will provide seamless, team-oriented support, ensuring both children receive exceptional, individualized care while maintaining consistency in routines and developmental goals.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned career nanny with a strong background in infant and toddler development and a genuine passion for helping young children learn through play, exploration, and meaningful engagement. The family is seeking someone who enjoys an active lifestyle and loves spending time outdoors—whether that's swimming, going for walks, visiting parks, or creating fun, enriching experiences that encourage curiosity and healthy development. A calm, nurturing demeanor, exceptional emotional intelligence, and the ability to anticipate the needs of both the children and the household are essential. Candidates should be polished, discreet, collaborative, and thrive working as part of a fully staffed household. A college degree or background in Early Childhood Education (or a related field) is highly preferred. Mandarin-speaking candidates would be considered an ideal fit, though fluency is not required.

This position follows a two-weeks-on / two-weeks-off ROTA schedule, which is a firm requirement. During working rotations, the nanny will reside in the family's home with a private bedroom and bathroom. While the family is open to fly-in/fly-out candidates, preference will be given to candidates who are already based in the Austin area and able to live out during their two weeks off.

The family travels frequently throughout the United States and internationally, so candidates must enjoy travel and be comfortable maintaining routines while away from home. They are looking for someone who is proactive, organized, adaptable, and committed to building a long-term relationship with their family.

The position offers an outstanding compensation package, comprehensive benefits, paid time off, and flights for rotational travel when applicable. This is an exceptional opportunity for a polished, career nanny seeking a long-term role with a kind, appreciative, and respectful UHNW family where collaboration, professionalism, and longevity are truly valued.
