Provides specialized patient care and education for patients receiving treatments, examinations, surgeries, dialysis, etc., in a medical office according to established procedures.
Work Schedule: 8-hour shifts, no call or holiday requirement.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Performs and documents assessment of the patient/family (biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, spiritual and environmental); collects and analyzes data from the medical record in order to coordinate patient care.
  • Directs and/or provides patient care, which may include administering medication, performing procedures and monitoring patient status in accordance with approved nursing practice.
  • Provides appropriate counsel and education to patients/family regarding disease process and symptom management.
  • Maintains medical records requiring appropriate and timely recording of patient information.
  • Consults with members of the health care team, adjusting nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrates cost-effective work habits by setting priorities and properly managing supplies and equipment.
  • Assists the health care provider with examinations, procedures, prescription refills and other processes related to direct patient care.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities to ensure appropriate clinical outcome.
  • Professional contributions, including presentations, preceptorships/mentorships, committee participation, community service, inclusion on research or professional publications or local, regional or national professional organization leadership roles.
  • Performs other duties as outlined in specialty-specific job responsibilities.
