Live In Residential Superintendent information

What is a live in residential superintendent?

Live-in residential superintendents are individuals responsible for the daily maintenance and management of apartment buildings or residential complexes where they also reside. Their duties typically include responding to tenant repair requests, overseeing building systems, coordinating with contractors, and ensuring the property is safe and well-maintained. Being on-site allows superintendents to address emergencies quickly and provide direct support to residents. They often serve as the primary point of contact between tenants and property management.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a live in residential superintendent?

To thrive as a Live In Residential Superintendent, you need strong maintenance skills, knowledge of building systems, and experience managing residential properties, often supported by a high school diploma or relevant trade certification. Familiarity with work order systems, basic plumbing and electrical tools, and property management software is typically required. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills help you respond effectively to tenant needs and emergencies. These abilities ensure safe, efficient building operations and high tenant satisfaction, which are crucial for property value and community well-being.

What are some common challenges faced by a live in residential superintendent, and how can they be managed effectively?

Live In Residential Superintendents often face challenges such as responding to after-hours maintenance emergencies, balancing the needs of multiple tenants, and maintaining clear communication with property management. Effective time management, proactive maintenance routines, and building strong relationships with residents can help manage these challenges. Staying organized and setting boundaries for off-duty hours, when possible, also contribute to a healthier work-life balance while ensuring tenants’ needs are met promptly.

Maintenance Technicians focus on repairing and maintaining building systems but usually do not reside on-site. While both roles require technical skills, the superintendent's role involves more management and resident interaction, often with live-in responsibilities.

Job description

Live-In Sponsored Residential Provider – Fredericksburg, VA
$750 Weekly Stipend + Free Housing & Utilities | Immediate Opening

Home Sweet Home Residential Care is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and mature Live-In Sponsored Residential Provider to support 1–2 adult female residents in a beautiful, spacious 5-bedroom home in the Fredericksburg area.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who is a natural caregiver and would enjoy creating a warm, stable, family-style home environment while helping individuals with developmental disabilities live meaningful and fulfilling lives in their community.
This position may be especially appealing to a mature or older adult, empty nester, experienced caregiver, or someone looking for a long-term live-in opportunity where housing and major household expenses are provided.
Compensation & Benefits
  • $750 weekly stipend

  • Private room with private bathroom and free room and board
  • Electricity included
  • Cable and Wi-Fi included
  • Yard maintenance included
  • Access to a company vehicle for resident-related transportation or mileage reimbursement when applicable
  • All required training provided
  • Ongoing support from Home Sweet Home Residential Care
  • Opportunity to live in a beautiful 5-bedroom home
  • Family members or children may be permitted to live in the home on a case-by-case basis

  • Any household member age 18 or older must successfully complete required background checks
What You'll Do
As the Live-In Sponsored Residential Provider, you will help create a safe, comfortable and welcoming home while supporting 1–2 female residents with their individual needs.
Responsibilities may include:
  • Providing supervision, guidance and companionship
  • Helping residents maintain daily routines and develop greater independence
  • Supporting personal care needs when required
  • Assisting with meals, household routines and medication-related responsibilities
  • Providing or coordinating transportation to appointments, activities and community outings
  • Encouraging residents to participate in activities they enjoy
  • Maintaining required documentation and completing simple computer-based records
  • Communicating with the Home Sweet Home Residential Care team regarding resident needs
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and respectful home environment
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is patient, dependable, nurturing and genuinely enjoys helping others.
You do not need to come to us already knowing everything about sponsored residential services. We provide the required training.

However, you must:
  • Be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English
  • Have basic computer skills and be comfortable completing simple electronic documentation
  • Be dependable and able to maintain a consistent home environment
  • Have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Be able to successfully complete required background checks and screenings
  • Be willing to complete all required training
  • Understand that this is a live-in position, not a traditional shift-based caregiving job
  • Be prepared to make a minimum 18-month commitment

The Right Fit Matters
We have an immediate placement opportunity, but we are looking for the right long-term provider, not simply the first available applicant.
Sponsored residential care works best when the provider genuinely enjoys creating a home, building relationships and helping residents become as independent as possible.
If you are naturally caring, enjoy having a home filled with purpose, and are looking for a stable opportunity where housing, utilities and other major living expenses are included, we would love to hear from you.
Job Type: Live-In Sponsored Residential Provider
