Live In Relocation Nanny information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Live In Relocation Nanny, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Live In Relocation Nanny, you typically need experience in childcare, a relevant certification such as CPR/First Aid, and often a high school diploma or higher. Familiarity with communication apps, scheduling tools, and sometimes knowledge of multiple languages are important for coordinating with families and adapting to new environments. Strong soft skills like flexibility, cultural sensitivity, and excellent communication help build trust and ease the transition for both children and parents. These skills ensure a smooth relocation process, foster a nurturing environment, and support the family's overall well-being.

What is a live-in relocation nanny?

A live-in relocation nanny is a professional caregiver who moves into a family's home, often in a new city or country, to provide childcare during a family's relocation. They assist children in adjusting to new environments, routines, and schools, while supporting the family through the transition. In addition to typical nanny duties, they may help with unpacking, settling in, and establishing new routines, making the relocation process smoother for everyone involved.

What are some common challenges faced by live-in relocation nannies, and how can they prepare for them?

Live-in relocation nannies often face challenges such as adapting to a new household routine, integrating into a different culture or location, and establishing boundaries while living where they work. To prepare, it's helpful to communicate openly with the host family about expectations, routines, and private time. Building flexibility and resilience, as well as researching the new area in advance, can also ease the transition and help create a positive working and living environment.

Job description

An active, loving family relocating to Snowmass, Colorado, is seeking an experienced, adventurous, and professional Live-In Nanny / Family Assistant to join their household long-term. The family has a 4.5-year-old son, who attends school full-time and summer camp, and a newborn daughter currently supported by a temporary live-in baby nurse through the end of August. The ideal candidate is mature, proactive, and excited to grow with a young family while helping create a calm, organized, and engaging home environment.

The family enjoys an active lifestyle centered around travel, outdoor activities, and quality family time. They are seeking someone who can confidently support both children, assist with household flow, and seamlessly step into a collaborative role with involved parents.

The nanny will work 40 hours per week, with the option to work additional overtime.

  • Primary support for infant daughter once baby nurse departs
  • Assisting with care, routines, and developmental support for the family’s 4.5-year-old son
  • Planning engaging, age-appropriate learning activities and maintaining structure and consistency
  • Supporting children’s schedules, routines, and overall household flow
  • Children’s laundry, light tidying, and organization
  • Assisting as an “extra set of hands” throughout the home while children are occupied
  • Helping with grocery runs and household errands
  • Supporting simple meal prep and assisting in the kitchen, particularly with children’s meals and family dinner prep

  • Adventurous, active, and comfortable in a mountain lifestyle and snowy climate
  • Calm, emotionally mature, and highly adaptable personality
  • Experience traveling extensively with families
  • Self-starter who can confidently step into a busy household with minimal direction
  • Someone seeking a long-term role with one family
  • Warm, engaging, “motherly” presence preferred
  • Spanish speaking is a plus, but not required

  • Valid driver’s license and confident driving ability
  • Passport-ready and able to travel internationally
  • Comfortable swimming and participating in active outdoor lifestyles preferred
  • Significant prior experience as a professional career nanny
  • Strong infant and toddler experience required
  • Background in child development, preschool education, or similar experience strongly preferred

    Travel:

    • Travel required throughout the year
    • Typical travel includes school holidays, summer travel, and winter trips
    • Potential destinations include Mexico during the winter and extended summer travel in Europe
    • Longest anticipated travel period may be approximately one month during the summer
    • Thanksgiving travel optional; Christmas travel generally not expected

  • $40–$45/hour DOE, plus overtime
  • Compensation flexible for candidates with exceptional child development experience
  • Relocation assistance available for the right candidate
  • Private bedroom and bathroom provided
  • All food and travel expenses covered while traveling or living in
  • Minimum of 3 weeks PTO, with additional flexibility offered
  • Health insurance stipend
  • Paid sick days
  • Annual holiday bonus
