Job description

Job Summary

A Caregiver in a residential home setting provides compassionate, person-centered care to individuals who require assistance with daily living activities due to age, disability, or mental health needs. The caregiver is responsible for promoting residents' independence, ensuring their safety and well-being, and creating a clean, supportive, and respectful home environment. This position pays 1500 monthly plus room and board and meals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administer medications as prescribed and accurately document medication administration according to agency policy.
  • Prepare and serve meals while following dietary restrictions and nutritional guidelines.
  • Encourage and assist residents with household chores to promote independence and life skills.
  • Monitor residents' physical, emotional, and behavioral well-being, reporting any concerns to supervisors or medical professionals.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including daily logs, medication records, incident reports, and progress notes.
  • Provide companionship, emotional support, and positive encouragement while treating all residents with dignity and respect.
  • Transport or accompany residents to medical appointments, shopping trips, recreational outings, and community activities when required.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized living environment by completing light housekeeping duties, including laundry, dishwashing, and cleaning common areas.
  • Assist with crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques when appropriate while ensuring resident safety.
  • Follow individualized care plans and collaborate with nurses, case managers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Adhere to all agency policies, HIPAA regulations, infection control procedures, and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous caregiving, direct support, home health, or healthcare experience preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
  • Ability to pass background checks and meet agency employment requirements.

Work Environment

Caregivers work in a residential home providing 24-hour support to residents. Shifts may include mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight hours. The position requires a caring attitude, professionalism, flexibility, and a commitment to improving the quality of life of each resident.
