Cedar Sinai Park is looking for an Sous Chef.

Summary Assists the Director of Culinary Services with overseeing all the Rose Schnitzer Manor kitchen operations. Provides leadership and direction to culinary staff, including Senior Chefs, ensuring quality food preparation, efficient resource management, and adherence to food safety standards and organizational policies.
Essential Functions

• Serves as the lead Chef in the Culinary Department in the absence of Director of Culinary Services.
• Assists managing day to day operations as needed or assigned in the Culinary Department at Rose Schnitzer Manor. Serves as a point of contact for kitchen staff as needed.
• Assists other cooks with preparing and plating food, including cutting, marinating, and precooking food.
• Leads in training and mentoring as needed and requested by the manager. Regularly assists with training of new hires.
• Assembles dishes and plates food according to recipe format and in an attractive manner.
• Orders, receives, and stores a variety of food and non-food supplies. Establishes reorder points, determines stock levels and adjusts as needed.
• Maintains safety, sanitation and storage requirements/regulations in storerooms, walk-in coolers, refrigerators, and freezers.
• Takes a lead role in catering and communicates with Dining Room Supervisor and Culinary Assistant on all events.
• Ensures all product: food, linen, tableware and utensils are ready for all events.
• Ensures all daily logs are filled out completely and accurately.
• Has a clear understanding of both Meat and Dairy menus and work stations and able to support staff members when needed.
• Assists in end of month inventory.
• Will be an active participant in the proforma process for budgeting.
• Assist in coding of invoices and the financial spend down process.
• Serves as a line cook or prep cook as needed on a regular basis.

Flexibility and willingness to assist with the day-to-day needs of the Culinary Department.
Qualifications include but not limited to:
High school diploma or equivalent required. 1-3 years of similar experience required. Experience working with elders and/or in the food service or customer service industry preferred. Culinary education or training preferred.
Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Food Handler's Permit within 30 days of employment. Alcohol Server Permit required where applicable by state law.
