Job Summary
Are you passionate about the outdoors and committed to protecting natural spaces? Join our team as a Park Ranger at the Baytown Nature Center, where you'll help preserve one of the area's most unique coastal environments while creating a safe and welcoming experience for visitors. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to combine environmental stewardship, public service, and community engagement in a beautiful natural setting. If you enjoy working outdoors, interacting with people, and making a meaningful impact, we'd love to hear from you.
Responsible for protecting and conserving natural areas within the Baytown Nature Center by patrolling grounds and monitoring for signs of damage or illegal activity, enforcing regulations and promoting responsible behavior in the park, assisting visitors by answering questions and providing information, and responding to emergencies and coordinating with law enforcement when needed. Reports hazards, damages or maintenance needs to appropriate staff.
Duties
  • Patrols park areas by foot or vehicle to monitor activity, ensure park safety, and identify and address potential issues.
  • Enforces park rules; educates and informs visitors on regulations. Issues warnings for violations as needed.
  • Greets and assists visitors by providing information regarding park amenities, answering questions, and offering support.
  • Maintains detailed records and reports incidents, visitor interactions, and daily activity.
  • Performs light maintenance and ensures environmental cleanliness and safety.
  • Performs all other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Required:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record (must obtain TX driver's license within 90 days).

Preferred:
  • Previous security, enforcement, or park services experience.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Physical fitness to hike long distances, carry gear, and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Understanding of conservation principles, environmental issues, and best practices for protecting natural resources.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions, complete reports, and interact professionally with the public.
