Main Purpose:

The Overhead Crane Technician is responsible for the inspection, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of overhead industrial lifting systems. The Technician is responsible for ensuring overhead cranes operate safely and comply with all safety standards to minimalize down time. 


Essential Functions:

  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance, load test, root cause analysis and electrical troubleshooting
  • Read electrical schematics , program variables and repair motors, festoons, pendant controls and hand-held controls
  • Repair or replace heavy components such as gears, wheel bearings, wire ropes, hook blocks and brakes
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisor

Requirements:


Physical Requirements:

  • Standing, sitting, walking, stooping, kneeling, climbing, feeling, talking, hearing and seeing
  • Turning, twisting, bending and balancing
  • Pushing, pulling and reaching
  • Must be able to lift and / or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally 50-75 pounds

Job Requirements:

  • 2+ years experience with overhead cranes mechanics and diagnostics
  • Must be able to pass a background check

Desirable Experience, Education and Training:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Tools, Equipment and Technology:

  • Voltage meters, pilers, screw drivers and all other tools used in the maintenance of Overhead Cranes. 

Environmental Conditions:

 80 to 90% of the work activities are performed outdoors in a shop. Individuals will be required to work in changes of temperature, hot, cold, humid, wet, and dry conditions, dust, mud, etc.
