bp P&O Wells is posting for a Well Site Leader role targeted toward individuals with existing industry experience.
The Well Site Leader (WSL) role is rig based and implements the well procedures - including drilling, completions, workovers, interventions, and subsea activities-while adhering to bp's Values and Behaviors, the Operating Management System (OMS), company practices and procedures, and all local regulations.
This job posting is seeking candidates to fill local positions in Wells GoA as:
• Drilling Well Site Leaders - Experienced Hire
Successful candidates will report directly to the Well Superintendent (WSUP) and will work closely with Well Site Leaders and Supervisors at the well site, as well as all vendors, suppliers, and contractors.
Key Accountabilities:
  • Follow the roles and responsibilities set out for the well site leader.
  • Promote an inclusive workplace where speak-up is the norm.
  • Learn, understand, develop, build skills and competencies in their core technical discipline including cross-discipline learning.
  • Lead with supervision in well operation activities.
  • Verifying adherence to the site Safety Management System (SMS), Control of Work (CoW) procedures, Barrier Health, Risk Management and Self-verification & Oversight (SV&O) processes.
  • Advocate "stop the job" and "speak up culture".
  • Support the Senior WSL in reporting and documenting HSSE incidents, accidents and process safety events using the bp's safety reporting system.
  • Support the WSL and well Engineering in all daily operations planning and lookahead forecasts with all onsite vendors, suppliers, and contractors including workload prioritization to allow proper supervision during critical well operations.
  • Verify procedural discipline around work done per approved procedures, managing operational changes, and site meetings such as pre-job, pre-tour, after action reviews (AAR) and lessons learned (LL) for continuous improvement.
  • Support the WSL in the Daily Operations Reports (using OpenWells) for accuracy and content, daily cost tracking process, and reviewing all service providers, vendors and contractor's daily reports for content and accuracy prior to distribution.
  • Support and lead in contractors, suppliers, and vendors performance for all well operations such as KPI metrics; efficiency - productive, non-productive, and invisible lost time events, investigations, non-conformance; performance feedback.

Essential Education:
  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Well Control Certification Combined Supervisor IADC or IWCF in the relevant field.
  • HUET training for locations that require helicopter transit to the wellsite.

Essential experience and job requirements:
  • 10 years+ experience in Well Planning and/or Operations.
  • Proven proficiency in English for reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Industry experiences as Driller or Toolpusher in offshore Drilling, Completions, Interventions or Subsea operations (minimum 10 years offshore experience)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop individual skills and leadership commensurate with the requirements of the wellsite leader role.
  • Demonstrable HSSE leadership in supervising HSSE compliant operations without sacrificing operational efficiency.
  • Experience in contractor management for planning, preparation and execution of wells activity.

  • Team oriented and must possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels and across the Region(s).

Desirable criteria and qualifications:
  • Industry experiences as Driller or Toolpusher in offshore Drilling, Completions, Interventions, or Subsea operations (preferred +10 years' experience)
  • Other relevant industry experiences with vendors, service providers, and rig / vessel contractor companies.
  • Experiences working in multi-disciplinary teams and/or remote locations.
  • Experience effectively stewarding the Contractor-Operator relationship to ensure aligned objectives, safe operations, and high-quality performance.
  • Degree in a qualified engineering, science, or technical field.

Travel Requirement:
  • This is a rotational role.
  • Travel is required to and from the bp heliport in Houma for travel to the work site. Travel is also required to Houston and other areas for role specific training.

Relocation Assistance:
  • This role is not eligible for relocation; positions are intended for candidates already located within the country or region of employment.
  • The company will cover travel expenses between any U.S. home location and the bp heliport in Houma, as well as other approved training locations.
