Job description

Make a meaningful difference in someone’s life while using your Japanese language skills in a rewarding caregiving role.

Hawaiian Legacy Home Care is seeking a compassionate, dependable Japanese-speaking caregiver for an upcoming recurring homemaker and companionship assignment in East Honolulu.

This is a non-medical homemaker position. CNA or Nurse Aide certification is not required.

At Hawaiian Legacy Home Care, we provide high-quality, relationship-driven care that helps our clients live safely and comfortably at home. We are a locally owned agency, not a large franchise, which means our leadership team is hands-on, supportive, and invested in both our clients and our caregivers.

Current Opportunity

We are currently preparing for a recurring client assignment in the Aina Haina / Waialae Iki area of East Honolulu.

The client speaks English but sometimes communicates in Japanese. For this reason, we are especially interested in caregivers who are comfortable communicating conversationally in Japanese.

There are significant recurring hours available, including:

  • Weekday evening and overnight shifts
  • Weekend daytime hours
  • Weekend overnight hours

You do not need to be available for the entire schedule. We are open to caregivers who are interested in one or more recurring shifts.

The client's services are still being finalized, so this specific assignment is not yet guaranteed. Applicants may also be considered for other Hawaiian Legacy Home Care assignments that match their availability and experience.

Pay & Benefits
  • $18–$22 per hour
  • Additional pay for night and weekend shifts
  • Flexible scheduling based on your availability
  • Consistent client assignments whenever possible
  • Paid training and ongoing support
  • Simple, app-based documentation
  • Supportive and accessible leadership team
  • Opportunities for additional hours as our client base grows
What You’ll Do
  • Provide companionship and meaningful social interaction
  • Engage the client in conversation and appropriate activities
  • Provide cognitive and memory support
  • Prepare simple meals
  • Perform light housekeeping, including laundry, cleaning, and organizing
  • Help keep the kitchen and bathroom clean and comfortable
  • Provide reminders such as encouraging hydration
  • Observe and report changes or concerns
  • Document visits using our mobile care system
What Helps You Succeed
  • Able to communicate conversationally in Japanese
  • Compassionate, dependable, patient, and respectful
  • Comfortable working with an older adult experiencing dementia or memory changes
  • Comfortable working independently in a client’s home
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to perform light physical tasks, including lifting up to approximately 25 lbs.
  • Reliable transportation for applicable assignments
  • Access to a smartphone for scheduling and documentation
Requirements
  • Must be 18+
  • Ability to pass required background screening and TB clearance
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • CNA or Nurse Aide certification is not required
