Job description

The Imaging Administrator serves as the primary technical and operational support resource for all imaging informatics systems across the San Ramon market. This includes Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), Radiology Information Systems (RIS), voice recognition platforms, critical results management tools, and cardiology imaging applications.

This role ensures imaging workflows function efficiently and reliably to support clinical operations, regulatory compliance, and exceptional patient care. The Imaging Administrator partners closely with Radiology, Cardiology, clinical departments, vendor support teams, and IS leadership to maintain, optimize, and enhance imaging technology across the enterprise.
 

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, Imaging Science, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 2 year of experience in imaging informatics or PACS administration within a healthcare environment.
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • Sectra PACS
  • Primordial (Critical Results Management)
  • PowerScribe 360 (PS360)
  • Cardiology imaging systems (e.g., CVIS, echo, cath lab, structured reporting applications)
  • Strong understanding of DICOM, HL7, imaging modalities, and clinical imaging workflows.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting enterprise imaging across multifacility markets.
  • Vendor certifications (Sectra, Nuance/PS360, cardiology applications).
  • Knowledge of EMR integration (e.g., Cerner, Epic).
  • Understanding of cybersecurity best practices for imaging systems.
  • Experience with project management or system implementation.

Compensation

  • Pay: $66,768 - $106,704 annually. Compensation depends on location, qualifications, and experience.
  • Management level positions may be eligible for sign-on and relocation bonuses.

System Administration & Support

  • Administer and support Sectra PACS environments, including configuration, user management, workflow optimization, and system monitoring.
  • Manage critical results reporting workflows using Primordial to ensure compliance with communication and documentation requirements.
  • Provide administration and troubleshooting for PowerScribe 360 (PS360), including user profiles, templates, speech recognition performance, and interface connections.
  • Support cardiology imaging applications, such as CVIS, echocardiography systems, modality workstations, and structured reporting tools.
  • Monitor system performance, storage utilization, and data integrity across all imaging platforms.

Workflow Management & Optimization

  • Analyze radiology and cardiology workflows to identify improvements, reduce turnaround time, and enhance clinician experience.
  • Collaborate with department leadership and technologists to ensure optimal modality connectivity and exam lifecycle management.
  • Maintain system dictionaries, protocol settings, and configuration standards to ensure consistency across the Abrazo market.

Integration & Technical Support

  • Support DICOM configuration, HL7 interface troubleshooting, and integration between imaging systems, EMR, and enterprise systems.
  • Coordinate software upgrades, patches, and maintenance with vendors and internal IS teams.
  • Maintain modality worklist functionality and troubleshoot acquisition, routing, and image storage issues.

Governance, Compliance & Security

  • Ensure imaging systems meet regulatory and accreditation requirements (e.g., ACR, Joint Commission, HIPAA).
  • Maintain audit logs, user access reviews, and data retention policies in accordance with corporate IT standards.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, incident response, and downtime planning across imaging systems.

Training & Communication

  • Provide training and support for radiologists, technologists, cardiologists, and clinical staff on imaging applications.
  • Develop documentation, quick guides, and communication related to system changes, downtime, and new features.
  • Serve as a liaison between clinical teams and technical support groups for imaging-related issues.
