Job description

Bolton & Menk has an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer, PE to join our Water Resources team. We are looking to add a Water Resources Project Engineer, PE who will help advance our mission that All People Should Live in Safe, Sustainable, and Beautiful Communities! As a Water Resources Project Engineer, you will spend the majority of your time supporting project managers in the design and construction phases of municipal stormwater capital improvement projects, stream and wetland restoration, dam rehabilitation and removal, and comprehensive watershed studies. The primary focus of this position is technical water resources engineering— including hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, stormwater system design, restoration design, and plan development for a wide range of water-resilience and ecological improvement projects. You will play a key role in helping our team deliver projects that protect infrastructure, enhance natural systems, and improve the quality of life in the communities we serve. We take pride in our ability to provide innovative planning and engineering services grounded in resilience, sustainability, and environmental stewardship— and we’re excited for you to help us carry that passion forward.

We are looking for candidates who possess a high capacity for self-motivation and can apply engineering and water resources knowledge to a variety of projects. In addition, you must be able to develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and staff from various agencies.

This position can be based out of our offices located in:
North Carolina - Raleigh, Charlotte, Wilmington, Kinston, Holly Springs, Wake Forest
South Carolina - Rock Hill, Greenville, Myrtle Beach, Conway

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Performs detailed design computations
  • Performs preliminary layout, modeling and design.
  • Researches and prepares rough drafts of preliminary reports and feasibility studies.
  • Assists with project design and preparation of plans and specifications and prepare cost and quantity take-off estimates.
  • Assists with plan reviews, storm water pollution prevention plans, design of storm water facilities, storm water detention and retention design, water quality design, and storm water management planning

What We Are Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Water Resources or Biosystems Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.)
  • 5-10 years' progressive experience in the civil engineering field, including hydraulic and hydrologic modeling
  • Experience in plan and specification development with construction contract administration
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Microstation, GeoPAK Drainage, HydroCAD, P8 and GIS
