Evans Army Community Hospital is a state-of-the-art military medical center serving the Fort Carson community, including active-duty service members, retirees, and their families. As part of the Defense Health Agency, Evans ACH delivers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care across a wide range of specialties including primary care, surgery, radiology, gastroenterology, physical therapy, behavioral health, and women's services. Responsibilities
- Provide a full range of outcome-based nurse practitioner services in accordance with granted privileges
- Diagnose and treat patients with acute conditions, chronic illnesses, or minor trauma within accepted protocols and clinical practice guidelines
- Promote preventive care and health maintenance including annual physicals, health behaviors, and self-care through education and counseling
- Prescribe and dispense medications as delineated by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee
- Serve as primary care manager (PCM) for an assigned patient panel
- Order diagnostic tests and request consultations or referrals with appropriate physicians and health resources
- Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and react quickly in emergency situations
- Maintain proficiency in electronic health records and specialized medical equipment (IV pumps, cardiac monitors, EKG units, nebulizers)
- Participate in peer review, quality assurance, and continuous quality improvement activities
Qualifications
- Education: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with specialization as a Family Nurse Practitioner from a program accredited by a national nursing accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
- Experience: 24 months of active practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner (or in training) within the last 36 months with demonstrated current clinical competency.
- Certifications: BLS, ALS (ACLS), and PALS - must be maintained current throughout assignment.
- Board Certification: Certified as a Nurse Practitioner by ANCC, AANP, or recognized national nursing certification organization.
- Licensure: Current, unrestricted license to practice in any U.S. state or jurisdiction.
- DEA Registration: Required
- U.S. Citizenship required
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8-10 hour shifts between 0600-1800, not to exceed 40 hours per week. 30/60-minute uncompensated lunch.
