Job description

KATU/KUNP is looking for an Multi-Media Journalist who will be based in Salem, Oregon. Your responsibilities as an MMJ will include reporting, shooting and editing news stories, enterprising story ideas, developing contacts, as well as other responsibilities as assigned. ย Your primary content will cover statewide issues and the statehouse when in session. You will be expected to create and publish content each day across multiple platforms, including television, digital, social media, streaming, and emerging platforms. You must be able and willing to shoot and edit your own stories daily and to provide content for both KATU and KVAL/KMTR. (Note: The candidate would not be required to go around the state to KVAL/KMTR to report unless the story requires it.)

Skills and Experience:

  • Sharp news judgment
  • The ability to tell an NPPA style story
  • Excellent technical skills
  • The ability to work well independently
  • Must have and maintain a valid license and a good driving record

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years reporting and experience is required
  • Experience with live shots is required
  • Experience with Live-U is a plus
  • Experience with AVID editing is a plus
  • You must live in Salem, OR and be willing to travel to Portland, OR for staff meetings/special coverage, etc.ย
