Position Title: Camp Caretaker ย ย ย 

Reports To: Senior Chaplain ย ย ย 


Summary of the Job:

The Camp Caretaker is responsible for ensuring that the Camp's facilities and grounds are clean, safe, and fully operational year-round. The position is responsible for coordinating the use of the Camp facilities. The Camp Caretaker should be committed to Sanctuary practice utilizing tools that reinforce our shared language to create a trauma-responsive culture.


Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Inspect and perform routine preventative maintenance as needed within agency guidelines for vehicles, buildings and equipment as assigned.
  2. Repair/maintain grounds and equipment.
  3. Perform lawn maintenance, leaf management, and tree care.
  4. Oversee pool maintenance and ensure its proper functioning.ย 
  5. Execute winterization procedures for facilities and grounds.
  6. Coordinate with volunteers to maximize their skills and abilities.
  7. Prioritize projects/needs.ย 
  8. Ensure required facilities are open and well-maintained for summer camp sessions.
  9. Handle day-to-day maintenance duties during summer camp sessions.
  10. Manage inventory and procure necessary supplies as needed.
  11. Utilize personal safety plan for managing emotions and interactions with staff and clients.
  12. Maintain storage areas to comply with health dept, OSHA and state standards.
  13. Participate in PQI process for assigned program.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain ServSafe Certification for camp kitchen facilities.
  2. Maintain Pool Certification.
  3. Receive donated items following agency guidelines.
  4. Moving and assisting in transportation of furniture and equipment.
  5. Represent agency favorably at all times.
  6. Other duties as assignedย 

Requirements

Qualifications:

  1. At ย least 21 years old.ย 
  2. A high school diploma or GED and two year experience in related field or successful completion of a formal training curriculum from a technical college or school pertaining to skills need to perform tasks assigned.
  3. Adequate training or experience to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to perform duties assigned.
  4. Physical health to perform tasks assigned, occasionally lift/carry parcels up to 50 pounds.
  5. Should be able to follow oral and written instructions.
  6. Display the motivation and desire to learn and develop advanced skills.

Ongoing Qualifications:

  • Agree to abide by all the policies, rules, guidelines and regulations of the Georgia Baptist Children's Homes and Family Ministries, Inc.
  • Exhibit tactfulness and good judgment in dealing with people
  • Familiar with traditional Baptist tenets, customs and practices and shall maintain a compatible lifestyle
  • Meet all employee guidelines and qualifications as outlined by GBCH & FM, license, contracts and accreditation.
  • Exhibit the Core Values of Georgia Baptist Children's Homes and Family Ministries, Inc.
  • Utilize the Sanctuary Model of Care and conduct job responsibilities in a trauma-responsive manner.
  • Have the ability to work in partnership with other members in a team approach
  • Arrive to work on time and as scheduled
  • Achieve and accomplish annual goals assigned by supervisor or provide acceptable documentation as to why goals were not met.ย 
  • Understanding of confidential issues and protected information assigned under HIPAA
  • Complete required staff development hours within the program including 24 hours in child care related training, current CPR, 1st ย ย ย ย ย Aid and approved emergency safety intervention training

  • Favorable MVR and fingerprint results
  • Maintain valid State Driver's License as requiredย
