Job Title:Paralegal, Litigation & Risk Management

Pay Details:

The annual base salary range for this position in California is $80,000 to $105,000 per year. The starting pay for the successful candidate depends on various job-related factors, including but not limited to the candidate's geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education/training, internal value, peer equity, external market demands, and organizational considerations.

We seek a data-driven and detail-oriented paralegal to help our Legal and Risk Management team manage its docket of litigation matters, claim administration, develop case intake and management processes as the team scales, and track and monitor trends to help reduce legal risks. The role will support the Senior Director for Legal Affairs and Risk Management and will work closely with other Legal and Risk Management team members, outside counsel, and employees across the enterprise.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with pre-litigation general liability and workers' compensation incidents and claims investigations, including tracking claim information, preparing for, and participating in witness meetings, collecting and summarizing information, and preparing claims for outside counsel handling

  • Support internal and external counsel on case management of active litigation matters, including coordinating witness interviews, gathering relevant documents for discovery responses, reviewing draft discovery responses, drafting summaries of evidence and witness statements, and other matters as requested by counsel

  • Assist in response to third-party tender demands, provide internal and external stakeholders with appropriate status updates, and assist in higher-level claims management processes

  • Coordinate responses to subpoenas, law enforcement, and other third-party requests for information, testimony, and documents

  • Maintain calendars for litigation and risk management matters, including response deadlines, key trial and mediation dates, and outside counsel status management, and track and monitor active cases and claims

  • Develop standard operating procedures related to risk management and litigation functions

  • Coordinate legal hold notices and related processes

  • Serve as the team's e-discovery expert and identify ways to improve e-discovery processes and capabilities

  • Assist with data tracking and analysis efforts to allow for monitoring and reporting of status and trends around the Company's litigation and risk management activities

  • Assist the Legal team with the preparation of presentations, summaries, and reports, as requested

  • Compile underwriting information for insurance renewals and coverage placements

  • Manage and maintain insurance policies, certificates of insurance, endorsements, and related information

  • Assist on other projects and initiatives as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; paralegal certificate preferred

  • 5+ years of paralegal, litigation support, claims administration, risk management, or related experience required

  • Experience supporting litigation, discovery, subpoenas, legal holds, claims, insurance, or risk management matters preferred

  • Strong organizational, written, verbal, analytical, and client service skills

  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple matters, deadlines, and priorities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with legal, claims, e-discovery, or document management systems preferred (e.g., Origami, NetDocuments)

  • Able to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining confidentiality and exercising sound judgment

  • Able to identify process gaps, anticipate case needs, and support data tracking, reporting, and process improvements
