Litigation Associate

Charleston, South Carolina

Join One of the Southeast's Premier Litigation Practices

A respected national law firm is seeking a Litigation Associate with 2+ years of complex litigation experience to join its thriving Charleston office. This is an outstanding opportunity for an attorney looking to build a sophisticated litigation practice while working alongside experienced trial lawyers who are committed to mentorship, professional development, and client success.

The ideal candidate will have experience handling complex civil litigation matters and be eager to assume meaningful responsibility in a fast-paced federal and state court practice. Experience with commercial litigation, employment law, and/or healthcare litigation is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in complex litigation matters in both federal and state courts.

  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation-related documents.

  • Manage all phases of discovery, including written discovery, document review, and production.

  • Conduct and defend depositions.

  • Perform legal research and develop case strategy.

  • Prepare witnesses, experts, and trial materials.

  • Participate in hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and court appearances.

  • Work directly with partners and clients on sophisticated litigation matters.

  • Collaborate with attorneys across multiple practice areas to provide strategic legal counsel.

  • Maintain exceptional client service while managing multiple active matters.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school with a strong academic record.

  • 2+ years of complex litigation experience.

  • Experience in commercial litigation is preferred.

  • Employment law and/or healthcare litigation experience is a plus.

  • Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.

  • Experience with discovery, depositions, motion practice, and courtroom proceedings.

  • Strong analytical abilities and sound legal judgment.

  • Exceptional organizational skills with close attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

  • Active license to practice law in South Carolina is required.
