We are seeking a hard-working, innovative, detail-oriented and creative team player to join our Aptive team! This is a full-time Legal Specialist position located in Provo, Utah. This role partners closely with the CLO, Paralegals, Compliance Counsel, and cross-departmental teams to ensure accurate handling of legal inquiries, audits, and litigation support. The Legal Specialist enhances organizational compliance by coordinating investigations, supporting legal processes, and promoting consistent standards across departments.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support damage claims and determine appropriate resolution strategies

  • Coordinate claim-related activities with the CLO, Paralegals, and Compliance Counsel

  • Support litigation needs by preparing materials and communicating with internal stakeholders

  • Interpret legal requirements and relevant case law to ensure regulatory alignment

  • Communicate with municipal legal counsel regarding regulatory or permitting inquiries

  • Promote a culture of compliance throughout the organization

  • Researching licensing and permitting requirements for hundreds of municipalities in the United States

  • Filing licensing and permitting applications online and preparing documentation and applications for sales representatives in assigned areas in person with each government agency

  • Coordinating with local governments on requirements and applications submitted for processing

  • Assisting team leaders, operations managers, and other compliance employees in the United States with information needed for local business licensing requirements

  • Conducting audits and monitoring compliance of sales representatives in assigned areas

  • Working with in-house legal teams of US companies to assist in the resolution of potential legal issues, or other projects as required

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum two years of relevant experience preferred

Requirements:

  • Institutional knowledge in customer care or customer-facing environments

  • Strong communication skills

  • Detail orientation and accuracy in documentation

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure

  • Ability to interpret legal requirements, regulations, and case law

  • Ability to collaborate with multiple internal departments and external legal stakeholders

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain timely follow-through

  • Ability to resolve challenges through the use of legal research, regulatory interpretation, and cross-departmental communication
