Job description

HERS Advisors has partnered with a leading business litigation law firm in Orange County (5 days in office) who is looking for an eager Litigation Assistant to join their successful team. The Litigation Assistant will provide complex and specialized secretarial and clerical support to assigned attorneys and paralegals.
Responsibilities for Litigation Assistant:

  • Prepare legal documents including pleadings, motions, affidavits, complaints, legal memoranda ensuring proper format, accuracy and completeness
  • File legal documents with proper courts, prepare trial notebooks and exhibit listings for meetings, court appearances and hearings
  • Maintain timekeepers' calendars and monitor docketing deadlines, review documents and correspondence for important deadlines and information
  • Assist attorneys with reviewing, organizing, and summarizing case materials, mail, and other case related documents
  • Organize and maintain electronic files in the firm's document management system (NetDocs)
  • Assist in preparation of matrices, charts, and spreadsheets as needed
  • Assist with mediation and trial preparation
  • Keep accurate time records for billable tasks
  • Schedule and arrange meetings, depos and conferences/teleconferences, coordinate travel arrangements, and perform other duties related to maintaining attorneys' schedule
  • Prepare and process expense reports, check requests, travel reimbursements, etc. in accordance with firm guidelines
Requirements for Litigation Assistant:
  • 2+ years' experience working as a litigation assistant in the public law practice area for a law firm or equivalent environment
  • Undergraduate degree preferred
  • Proficient in state and Federal court filings
  • Keep abreast of court rules and procedures and understand legal terminology
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Adobe and PowerPoint); NetDocs
