Practice Assistant - Litigation

A leading national law firm is seeking a Practice Assistant - Litigation for a temporary position in its Portland office. This role provides high-quality administrative support to a team of litigation attorneys, joining a collaborative, well-organized support group. Responsibilities include managing correspondence and calls, drafting and formatting documents in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, coordinating travel, processing invoices and reimbursements, and handling new-matter intake including conflict checks and engagement letters. The role also covers billing compliance, mail and filing management, document management system upkeep, and time entry support. Litigation-specific duties include PACER and e-filing, docketing and calendaring, processing subpoenas and discovery requests, preparing pleadings and other litigation documents, and Bates labeling/redaction for trial prep. Candidates should have a bachelor's degree (preferred) and 4-5 years of experience supporting lawyers or paralegals, along with advanced Microsoft Office and Adobe skills, document management system experience, and strong attention to detail and communication skills.
