The position is to be a key contributor to the Audiovisual team while ensuring all work is consistent with the Sporting KC brand purpose: "We create memories through personalized experiences with our Club."

We are looking for a knowledgeable, detail-oriented audiovisual technician to join our team. The responsibilities of the audiovisual technician include transporting equipment, setting up cameras, lighting, and video equipment, editing and copying videotapes, and ordering inventory.

To be successful as an audiovisual technician, you should have experience transporting, assembling, operating, and repairing equipment used for multimedia production. A great audiovisual technician is creative, flexible, and detail-oriented, with good communication and teamwork skills.

Essential Functions

  • Transporting, setting up, and installing media equipment and audiovisual support tools, including speakers, monitors, cameras, and equipment racks.
  • Setting up and performing electrical wiring, programming, and basic construction according to layout diagrams and schedules.
  • Developing good relationships with clients to keep production moving and to help out production or event coordinators.
  • Meeting clients' standards by handling equipment malfunctions and executing a flawless event.
  • Disassembling equipment, wiring, and support tools in a safe manner.
  • Performing inventory management on equipment, wiring, and accessories.
  • Carrying out any cleaning, maintenance, or repairs on audiovisual equipment.
  • Generating expense reports for management.
  • Attend all assigned Sporting Kansas City home games, as well as assigned non-soccer related events.
  • Represent Sporting Kansas City and its related affiliates in a professional manner at all times.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Match Day and Event Day Responsibilities

  • Associates act as representatives of Sporting Kansas City at all home matches, engaging with guests and working to create Magic Moments for all fans.
  • Flexibility in working hours and willingness to adapt to non-traditional schedules.
  • Set up and test audiovisual equipment such as video boards, scoreboards, LED displays, sound systems, and cameras prior to the match.
  • Operate and monitor video switchers, playback devices, and other control systems to ensure accurate and timely video and audio content delivery.
  • Collaborate with other event staff, including lighting technicians and stage managers, to create a cohesive and engaging live production.
  • Overall, your role as an AV Tech on an MLS matchday involves utilizing your technical expertise to deliver a visually and audibly captivating experience for spectators.
