Job description

AMPI owns six Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation's American-type cheese and processed cheese is produced. The cooperative's award-winning cheese and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled cheesemakers.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time:
  1. All AMPI employees have an obligation to report employee safety, food safety and food quality issues to personnel of authority.
  2. Work with Opendock to provide real time information to customers, carriers, and plant employees.
  3. Keep accurate records of inventory, including shipments to warehouses, shipments to sister plants, and shipments to outside customers.
  4. Maintain quality control of goods by monitoring lab results to determine which customer the product will be sold.
  5. Prepare and sign off on shipping documents (bills of lading, COAs, ect.)
  6. Complete full physical inventory counts, as well as cycle counts
  7. Preparing list of shipments to warehouse workers to ensure products are sent out.
  8. Be the main point of contact customers, suppliers, and transport companies regarding finished goods inventory.
  9. Schedule shipments, ensuring delivery deadlines and quality objectives are met.
  10. Work directly with carriers/drivers to check them in at the plant and give them accurate paperwork for the load they are picking up.
  11. Work with sales to determine what products need to be made, any loads that were not picked up, if there are any additional last-minute sales, etc.
  12. Complete processes in JDEdwards accurately and efficiently.
  13. Assist with developing processes and efficiencies.
  14. Monitor email and respond immediately to urgent requests.
  15. Track damaged products, report the damage to the office manager and division manager, and then determine next steps.
  16. Assist with the yearly audit and monthly reporting.
  17. Back up for the front desk, answering phones, and processing paperwork, as needed.
  18. Perform basic bookkeeping activities and update the accounting system. Serve as a backup to accounting functions.
  19. Cross-train other staff on job duties
  20. Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • Associate degree in accounting or related field or a combination of education and relevant work experience.
