Responsibilities

The analyst will support the installation, configuration, conversion, implementation, and ongoing utilization of various clinical systems, including LIS applications and other department related systems. The analyst is responsible for updating, managing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and training staff on LIS applications. The position provides advanced knowledge in problem investigation, evaluation, and solution. It includes maintaining and updating the Laboratory Information System, ensuring ongoing functionality, assessment, planning, and implementation information system support needs. The analyst collaborates with the Information Systems team to accomplish projects involving interfaces to the hospital main system, including equipment, reference laboratories, middleware, and pointโ€‘ofโ€‘care systems. The role facilitates data gathering, develops and assists in formulation of database reports for evaluation of lab system for process improvement, and coordinates CDM requests. With appropriate direction and guidance, the analyst analyzes programs, tests procedures, documents thoroughly in accordance with hospital, federal, and state regulatory requirements, and validates and tests new builds.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Biology, or related field.
  • Experience: Prior experience with Cerner preferred; Epic experience is a plus. Experience with ASTM/HL7 Interface language, LIS systems integration with multiple middleware. Three (3) or more years of progressively responsible, related work experience in LIS solutions and a minimum of three years of clinical experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge: Clinical laboratory, pathology, and molecular regulatory standards, procedures, relevant supplies, devices, and equipment. Knowledge of Anatomic, Clinical and Molecular Pathology clinical concepts, common clinical terms, clinical procedures, and workflow.
  • License/Certification: Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP preferred). Current Florida State Board certification as CLS โ€“ Generalist or Supervisor.
