As of Jun 26, 2026, the average yearly pay for liquid penetrant testing in the United States is $109,109.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $94,000.00 and $130,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What jobs make $10,000 a month without a degree?

In the field of liquid penetrant testing, experienced inspectors with specialized certifications can earn around $10,000 per month, especially in high-demand industries like aerospace or oil and gas. These roles typically require technical skills, on-the-job training, and sometimes certifications such as ASNT Level III, but they do not always require a college degree. High-paying opportunities are often found in senior or supervisory positions with extensive experience.

What types of industries commonly employ professionals in Liquid Penetrant Testing, and what is the typical work environment like?

Liquid Penetrant Testing professionals are frequently employed in industries such as aerospace, automotive, manufacturing, oil and gas, and power generation, where the detection of surface flaws in materials is critical. The work environment can vary from laboratories and manufacturing plants to field sites, often requiring adherence to strict safety and cleanliness protocols. Technicians typically work as part of quality assurance or inspection teams, collaborating with engineers, supervisors, and other NDT specialists. The role may involve working flexible hours or overtime during peak production periods to meet project deadlines. Candidates considering this position should be comfortable working in detail-oriented, sometimes fast-paced settings while upholding high standards for safety and quality.

What is a Liquid Penetrant Testing job?

A Liquid Penetrant Testing (LPT) job involves inspecting materials for surface defects using a dye or fluorescent penetrant. Professionals in this role apply the penetrant, remove excess material, and use a developer to reveal cracks, porosity, or other flaws. LPT is commonly used in industries like aerospace, manufacturing, and construction to ensure structural integrity. Technicians must follow industry standards and safety procedures to obtain accurate results. This non-destructive testing (NDT) method helps detect defects without damaging the inspected components.

What jobs pay $6,000 a month?

In the field of liquid penetrant testing, experienced inspectors with certifications such as ASNT Level II or III can earn around $6,000 or more per month, especially with overtime or in high-demand industries like aerospace or oil and gas. Salaries vary based on experience, location, and employer, with senior roles and specialized skills commanding higher pay. Generally, technical roles in nondestructive testing offer competitive wages for qualified professionals.

What jobs pay 2000 a day?

In the field of Liquid Penetrant Testing, high-paying roles such as senior inspectors, NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) specialists, or consultants can earn around $2,000 per day, especially with extensive experience, certifications like ASNT Level III, and working on large or complex projects. These positions often require specialized skills, certifications, and the ability to work in demanding environments or on contract basis.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Liquid Penetrant Testing position, and why are they important?

To thrive in Liquid Penetrant Testing, you need a solid understanding of non-destructive testing (NDT) principles, attention to detail, and usually a certification such as ASNT Level I or II. Familiarity with penetrant testing equipment, UV lights, and proper documentation procedures is essential. Strong observational skills, patience, and effective communication help in reporting findings and working closely with teams or clients. These skills ensure accurate detection of surface defects, compliance with safety standards, and successful project outcomes.

Is NDT a good career choice?

Liquid Penetrant Testing is a form of nondestructive testing (NDT) used to detect surface flaws in materials, and it is a valuable skill in industries such as aerospace, manufacturing, and power generation. Careers in NDT often require certification, attention to safety, and knowledge of inspection tools, offering stable employment opportunities with potential for advancement.
