Overview of the Specialist, Technology Infrastructure:

The Specialist, Technology Infrastructure plays a critical role in implementing and maintaining multiple application software packages running on a variety of distributed platforms in multiple environments. The Specialist, Technology Infrastructure ensures the reliability, scalability, and security of application software and any related firmware components. They will collaborate cross-functionally to optimize application performance and troubleshoot complex technical issues. They are responsible for staying current with emerging technologies to recommend and integrate innovative solutions that enhance operational efficiency. This role is essential for enabling seamless technology services that empower business continuity and growth.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Specialist, Technology Infrastructure:

  • Install, administer, and support applications running on virtualized platforms, including Linux/Unix, Windows, and OpenShift.
  • Deploy, configure, and support IBM middleware technologies such as CP4I, App Connect Enterprise, API Connect, DataPower, MQ, or WebSphere Application Server.
  • Collaborate with OEM vendors to troubleshoot software issues when needed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex software application stack issues to minimize downtime.
  • Participate in capacity planning and perform application software upgrades to meet evolving business requirements.
  • Document application configurations, procedures, and system changes to maintain accurate and accessible records.
  • Work closely with application and development teams to support integration, deployment, and adoption of new technologies.
  • Participate in an on‑call rotation to provide 24×7 production support coverage.

Skills and Experience of the Specialist, Technology Infrastructure:

  • 5+ years of experience providing application support on virtualized distributed platforms (Linux/Unix, Windows, OpenShift).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex software application issues.
  • Experience supporting IBM middleware technologies: OpenShift CP4I, App Connect Enterprise, API Connect, DataPower, MQ, WebSphere Application Server.
  • Experience with shell scripting (Linux/Unix, PowerShell, Perl).
  • Experience with TLS certificate management.
  • Familiarity with automation/configuration tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Terraform.
  • Experience working in DevOps environments.
  • Exposure to collaboration tools such as ServiceNow, Confluence, or SharePoint.
  • Ability to maintain, support, and optimize application components to ensure secure, efficient system performance.
  • Knowledge of automation and infrastructure-as-code practices to streamline operations.
