Job description

Position Summary:
  • Our team is looking for someone who is passionate about computer engineering and is self-directed, self-motivated, and detail-oriented to help us develop world class Linux RTOS software and real-time tools at both the kernel and application levels, for both the Intel/AMD and ARM64 architectures.
  • The real-time software engineer is responsible for executing or independently achieving project objectives by performing a variety of very complex engineering and process tasks which require in-depth and diversified technical knowledge.
  • Duties may pertain to product design, development, manufacturing, validation, system compatibility and sales/marketing support. The design/development or process design requirement activity is at a level where no previous practice may exist and where only the general nature of the problem is known.

Essential Duties:
  • You will develop, enhance, validate, and support Concurrent's RedHawk real-time enhanced Linux kernel and tools, working with both larger server-class systems that utilize standard Linux distributions, and smaller embedded hardware modules that utilize embedded Linux environments.
  • You will also develop, enhance, validate, and support Concurrent's NightStar real-time tool suite to ensure that it continues to provide the highest levels of real-time performance in the industry.
  • You will also periodically work on various projects including performance analysis, benchmarking, release engineering, security hardening, quality assurance, and assisting with our automated nightly test system.
  • Assess and determine areas of current engineering emphasis to focus attention on maximum utilization of engineering capabilities.
  • Translate future product needs into engineering feasibility and be aware of product and project issues across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Consider all systems level aspects of products in accomplishing the most complex conceptual and innovative design projects.
  • Employ all required section equipment, tools and methods.
  • Contribute to improving the technical knowledge base and effectiveness of other engineers.
  • Interface with co-workers and staff from other departments and ensure positive working relationship.
  • Impart technical expertise within department, and to customers, users' groups.

Experience Requirements:
  • Good foundations in C and C++ with experience from working on individual projects.
  • Familiarity with Bash scripting and Linux in general.
  • Classwork and/or knowledge of operating system fundamentals, application debugging, performance tuning, and performance profiling.

Compensation:
The pay range for this position is $85,000 to $100,000 annually with a 10% yearly bonus. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to the individual's qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as physical work location within the state.
