Job description

Senior Linux Systems Administrator - Annapolis Junction, MD
Our client needs a seasoned infrastructure expert to keep a large, mission-critical enclave running smoothly - think servers, virtual machines, managed switches, NAS, VLANs, and VPNs all working in concert. If you enjoy owning the full lifecycle of a complex environment - from day-to-day upkeep to planning its next evolution - this role gives you real latitude to shape how the infrastructure grows.
On any given day, you might be:
  • Mapping out a migration plan to move customers onto new architecture with zero disruption
  • Tuning routing protocols and chasing down a latency issue across multiple hops
  • Locking down firewalls and closing out vulnerability findings
  • Keeping security documentation current - SSPs, STE/STN packages, patching records, IAVM tracking
  • Fielding a question from a developer whose VM just went sideways
  • Updating the network diagram nobody else wants to touch, and writing up the monthly outage report
  • Scouting new tools or platforms that could raise the bar on the Agency's standard toolset

What you bring:
  • Bachelor's degree + 11 years of relevant experience (or equivalent combination)
  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
  • Hands-on network administration chops - routing, firewalls, troubleshooting connectivity and throughput issues
  • Experience with nginx, SELinux, and FIPS environments
  • Comfort with monitoring tools like OpenVAS, Prometheus, and Grafana
  • Familiarity with RMF compliance processes, McAfee, and UAM

Nice to have:
  • Docker, MongoDB, Elasticsearch
  • Ansible, GitLab, RedHat Satellite
  • Software-defined networking exposure
