Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing and configuring systems on-site, provisioning operating systems, loading software, updating network equipment, verifying data flow, troubleshooting contingencies, and coordinating system downtime with site customers and end-users. Additionally, the candidate will design, code, and test scripts to automate system management tasks, write monitoring cases for a Zabbix server, and assist in maintaining and writing content for all SI&T documentation.

  • This position is ONSITE at L3Harris offices located in Melbourne, Florida.
  • This role may require weekend, after-hours, or on-call rotations to meet program requirements and/or ongoing program support.
  • This position may require limited travel in an emergency.

Essential Functions:

  • Install and configure systems on-site, including physically installing hardware, provisioning operating systems, loading software, updating network equipment, verifying data flow, troubleshooting contingencies, and coordinating system downtime with site customers and end-users.
  • Design, code, and test scripts to automate system management tasks using Bash/Expect, Ansible, and other tools.
  • Write monitoring cases for a Zabbix server to track network activity.
  • Assist in maintaining and writing content for all SI&T documentation, including system build/checkout procedures, software install procedures, performance analysis technical memos, helpdesk tasking procedures, and site deployment CDRLs.
  • Contribute to system build scripts that configure RHEL servers, workstations, and virtual machines, managing storage, networking, firewalls, and user accounts on the systems.
  • Automate system configuration tasks with Ansible, including build processes, hardware checkouts, password management, and repository management.
  • Build systems in accordance with program documentation for control test environments and field delivery.
  • Execute test cases and regression tests for customer-witnessed test events (CRT/SRT).
  • Analyze and CM-control backend configurations of a Zabbix monitoring server every month as preventive maintenance.
  • Support the Harris lab environment with networking administration/tracking, machine maintenance, troubleshooting, configuration, etc.
  • Support the external customer connections to the Harris lab and Harris CM areas
  • Design/Implement new ideas for improvements to the system
  • Perform security audits on some systems.
  • Ability to obtain FAA Public Trust Security Clearance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • 2+ years of experience in systems administration, with a focus on automation and scripting.
  • Strong knowledge of Bash/Expect, Ansible, and other automation tools.
  • Experience with RHEL servers, workstations, and virtual machines.
  • Familiarity with Zabbix monitoring server configurations.
  • Experience with HTML/CSS/JavaScript for web-based development.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD for network/power diagram creation.
  • Familiarity with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) software.
  • Experience with test case execution and regression testing.
  • Experience with FAA/ATC systems
  • Aviation Weather related software & hardware
  • Meteorology terms and NWS Weather products
  • FAA ARTCC Facilities.
