Job description

AMERICAN SYSTEMS, a 100% employee-owned federal government contractor, is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator with Tier 1 & 2 experience to support a classified High-Performance Computing (HPC) environment in Dallas, TX.

Are you an experienced Linux administrator with strong system fundamentals wanting to expand your skillset into HPC environments? If so, this role is for you! You will work alongside senior system administrators and engineers, receiving hands-on exposure to HPC platforms, distributed storage, and advanced computing technologies while supporting secure, production Linux systems.

This position includes a $5,000 Sign-on Bonus on top of a comprehensive compensation package!


As a Linux Systems Administrator with AMERICAN SYSTEMS supporting HPC environments, you will have the opportunity to do the following:

  • Provide Tier 1 and 2 Linux systems administration support for HPC users
  • Support daily operations of HPC compute, storage, and network environments
  • Maintain Linux servers, workstations, and storage systems, including Lustre and Bright Cluster Manager
  • Administer user accounts, groups, and permissions
  • Triage service tickets and produce basic service metrics and reports
  • Support installation, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, backups, and security for HPC hardware and software
  • Perform hardware break/fix and assist with network, firewall, and security activities
  • Support RMF requirements and follow IT policies, processes, and procedures in a mission-driven environment

Required Qualifications

  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline or equivalent relevant experience
  • 5–7 years of Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems administration experience in production environments
  • Experience providing Tier I or Tier II operational support, including troubleshooting and ticket triage
  • Current DoD 8140 IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE or equivalent)
  • Current RHCSA / RHCE certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire

Technical Requirements

  • Hands-on experience, including user management, permissions, services, and system monitoring

  • Scripting experience using BASH (or Python) for system administration tasks

  • Experience supporting VMware vSphere environments

  • Working knowledge of RMF and Linux system hardening

Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
