Systems Administrator III (Linux)

Your Moneris Career - The Opportunity

As a Systems Administrator III (Linux), you will engineer, automate, secure, and continuously improve the enterprise Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) platform that underpins Moneris' business-critical payments services across on-premises datacentersand cloud.

This is asenior,hands-on infrastructure rolecenteredon operating and modernizing a large-scale RHEL estate of thousands of virtual machines spanning development through mission-critical production. You will build reusable automation at scale with Ansible, Python, and Bash; drive lifecycle management through patching, upgrades, and migrations; and harden the environment against payments-industry compliance standards. Working independently with sound judgment, you will partner with Platform, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Cloud Operations, Information Security, and Infrastructure Architecture teams to deliver a consistent, resilient, and secure operating environment. You will also mature service ownership, mentor less-experienced colleagues, and reduce operational drift through standards-based engineering.

Location:You will be based in our Toronto office, balancing in-office collaboration with remote flexibility.

Salary Range:The expected base salary range for this role is $85,000 - $113,000

  • Administer, maintain, and support a large-scale RHEL estate of thousands of virtual machines across development, test, and mission-critical production.

  • Manage platform currency through patching, upgrades, in-place migrations, remediation, and decommissioning using Red Hat Satellite and Hybrid Cloud Console.

  • Lead and support projects covering implementation, modernization, service transition, and operational readiness across hybrid infrastructure.

  • Troubleshoot complex issues to root cause across operating system,compute, storage, virtualization, identity, and network-adjacent layers.

  • Support server hardening, vulnerability remediation, and compliance activities within a least-privilege, PCI DSS-regulated environment.

  • Manage incidents, requests, problems, and changes in ServiceNow, aligned to enterpriseITILchange management processes.

  • Create andmaintainbuild standards,automationplaybooks, technical documentation, diagrams, and knowledge base articles.

Required qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years administering and supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7/8/9/10 on x86_64 at enterprise scale, including thousands of VMs across multiple environments.

  • Extensive hands-on automation experience with Red Hat Ansible, Bash, Python, and GitHub to deliver standards-based, consistent, secure environments at scale.

  • Strong experience with Linux build, patching, upgrade, in-place migration, and decommissioning workflows, including Red Hat Satellite and Hybrid Cloud Console.

  • Experience integrating RHEL with Active Directory using SSSD and Kerberoskeytabswithin a least-privilege security model.

  • Experience with virtualization such as VMware vSphere or Nutanix AHV and supporting Infrastructure as aService (IaaS) virtual machinesin Microsoft Azure.

  • Demonstrated root-cause troubleshooting across OS,compute, storage, virtualization, and network-adjacent layers, with a record of continuous service improvement.

  • Working knowledge of IPv4 fundamentals, network segmentation, PKI, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery concepts, plus ServiceNow and ITIL processes.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in a regulated industry, ideally payments or Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) environments.

  • Familiarity with server hardening using Center for Internet Security (CIS) benchmarks and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) guidelines, with tools such as Microsoft Defender,OpenSCAP, and Forta Tripwire.

  • Experience with CyberArk Privileged Access Management andConjursecrets management, Venafi, Azure Arc, and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (ATP).

  • Exposure to container-based infrastructure, DevOps pipelines, and observability tooling such asCheckMKand Dynatrace, plusGlusterFS/FUSE, NFS, and Postfix.
