Job Summary:
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs through strategic solutions in Information Technology and other areas. As a Linux Administrator, you will be responsible for maintaining and developing Linux infrastructure technology, providing systems administration solutions, and ensuring 24x7x365 uptime service.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with onsite system design personnel to implement new system software and hardware.
• Maintain and develop Linux infrastructure technology.
• Deliver 24x7x365 uptime service.
• Provide systems administration-related solutions.
• Maintain best practices for managing services and computer systems.
• Monitor system performance and capacity planning.
• Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, network hardware, and workstations.
• Install and configure Linux systems, back-end databases and scripts.
• Perform system maintenance by reviewing error logs.
• Provide technical and troubleshooting support for service problems.
• Create system backups and new stored procedures.
• Develop and maintain system recovery procedures.
• Install and Maintain system security.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented systems.
• Maintain all internet requests inclusive to DNS, RADIUS, Apache, MySQL, PHP.
• Enhance, maintain, and create the tools for the Linux environment and its users.
• Analyze hardware requirements and make acquiring recommendations.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s level degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Active Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
• U.S. Citizenship Required for the purposes of obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance.
• At least five (5) years of experience in Linux Administration (RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu), including extensive knowledge of Linux server setup, deployment, and maintenance, as well as a firm understanding of networking protocols and server security mechanisms.
• IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP).
• Programming skills (RedHat, Java).
