Quantum Leap Research is hiring Linux Systems Engineers to support and evolve our core infrastructure environment. This team plays a critical role in building the “glue” that connects internal systems, tools, and services, enabling seamless operations across the organization.


This role is ideal for engineers with deep Linux expertise who are strong troubleshooters, enjoy integrating technologies, and have a passion for automation and scripting-driven solutions.


Responsibilities:

  • Administer, maintain, and enhance Linux-based systems in a production environment
  • Troubleshoot complex issues across OS, storage, authentication, and system performance layers
  • Diagnose and resolve boot issues, filesystem problems, and system-level failures
  • Manage and support LDAP-based authentication systems (SSSD/PAM)
  • Design and build integrations between internal systems, tools, and services
  • Develop scripts and lightweight tooling to automate workflows and connect infrastructure components
  • Contribute to and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows (GitLab or similar)
  • Reduce manual operational tasks through automation and process improvement
  • Collaborate with engineering and IT teams to ensure reliable, scalable system operations


Qualifications:

Required

  • 10+ years of strong hands-on experience with Linux administration and systems engineering
  • Proven depth in troubleshooting across:
    • Boot processes
    • Filesystems
    • System performance and stability
  • Experience with LDAP and authentication systems
  • Strong scripting skills (Python, Perl, Bash) with demonstrated use in automation and system integration
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab preferred; Jenkins or similar acceptable)
  • Experience with Git/version control workflows
  • Ability to integrate disparate tools and systems into cohesive solutions
  • Self-driven with the ability to take ownership of technical challenges


Preferred

  • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible)
  • Familiarity with email systems (Postfix, Dovecot), DNS, or internal web services
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals (routing, firewalls, CIDR, Layer 2/3)
  • Security awareness (SSL/TLS, certificates)
  • Experience in on-prem or hybrid infrastructure environments
  • RHCE or similar certifications are a plus but not required

Salary Range: $170,000 - $205,000. Salary ranges reflect compensation for qualified candidates across a range of experience levels and are flexible; actual salary will be determined based on demonstrated skills, experience, and performance.
