The company is a global pioneer of AESA tactical radars for active military protection, counter-drone applications, critical infrastructure protection, and border surveillance.

DRS RADA Technologies in Germantown, MD, is hiring a Cyber Software Engineer II. This position is full time and on-site.
Join our dynamic radar and defense company as a Cyber Software Engineer II, where you will help secure and automate mission-critical systems. We are seeking an engineer who can translate complex requirements into secure, effective tooling while collaborating with fellow developers. In this role, you will build and improve scanning, imaging, and recovery tools; champion sound engineering practices; and support a collaborative, ego-free culture that values results over hierarchy.
You will work at the intersection of radar technology and defense applications, helping systems evolve from startup-speed development to enterprise-grade engineering without sacrificing agility.
Job Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain tools and scripts in Python, Bash, and PowerShell to automate scanning, imaging, hardening, remediation, and recovery across Linux and Windows.
  • Perform source-code security scanning (SAST/SCA) using tools such as Fortify, SonarQube, Coverity, or equivalent.
  • Build, harden, deploy, and recover Windows and Linux system images using PXE, DISM, Clonezilla, or equivalent tools.
  • Support system installation, remediation, and recovery.
  • Run vulnerability scans, such as Nessus, and drive remediation to closure.
  • Document tooling, procedures, and recovery runbooks.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field with 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong hands-on Linux experience, including administration, shell scripting, and tool development in Linux-based environments.
  • Working knowledge of Windows administration and scripting.
  • Proficiency building automation tools in Python and Bash; familiarity with PowerShell and batch scripting.
  • Hands-on experience with system imaging using PXE, DISM, Clonezilla, or equivalent tools.
  • Experience with system installation, remediation, and recovery.
  • Experience with source-code security scanning (SAST/SCA) using Fortify, SonarQube, Coverity, or equivalent tools.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with vulnerability scanning and remediation, such as Nessus.
  • Test & Evaluation, Quality Assurance, or test automation experience.
  • Familiarity with system-hardening best practices.
  • Exposure to reverse engineering / binary analysis (e.g., Ghidra, IDA) is a plus

U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
The salary range for this position is $101,098.00-$131,427.00. This range reflects the good faith estimate of pay the employer is willing to offer at the time of posting. Several factors can influence the pay scale, including but not limited to: Federal contract labor categories and contract wage rates, collective bargaining agreements, geographic location, business considerations, scope, and responsibilities of the position, local or other applicable market conditions, and internal equity. Other factors include the candidate's qualifications such as prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education/training, and certifications. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for: annual performance-based bonuses, equity awards, and overtime pay (for non-exempt employees as applicable.
