Job Title: Senior Linux System Administrator (AWS) โ€“ Top Secret Clearance
Location: Huntsville, Alabama (100% Onsite)
Clearance Required: Active Top Secret Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required)

Education: Bachelorโ€™s Degree (B.S.) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
Experience: Minimum 8+ years of hands-on Linux system administration and cloud operations experience
Job description:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Linux System Administrator with proven expertise in AWS cloud environments to support mission-critical systems within a classified defense program.
This position is fully onsite in Huntsville, AL, supporting a federal intel agency
The ideal candidate has deep experience managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or similar distributions, implementing automation and infrastructure-as-code solutions, and maintaining high-availability, secure cloud environments in compliance with DoD security standards.
Key Responsibilities
Administer and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) in classified and unclassified environments.
Design, implement, and maintain AWS infrastructure (VPC, EC2, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, RDS, EFS).
Automate provisioning, configuration, and deployment tasks using Ansible, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
Monitor system performance, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement performance tuning.
Patch and harden Linux systems to meet DISA STIG and RMF compliance requirements.
Manage user accounts, permissions, and security policies in accordance with DoD standards.
Support and integrate CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure continuous monitoring and incident response.
Participate in Agile/Scrum sprints, providing infrastructure support to development and QA teams.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
8+ years of hands-on Linux system administration experience (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
Proven experience managing cloud infrastructure in AWS (VPC, EC2, EBS, S3, IAM, CloudFormation, CloudWatch).
Proficiency in troubleshooting networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, load balancers).
Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, AWS CodePipeline).
Working knowledge of security hardening (STIGs, CIS benchmarks) and RMF controls.
Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
Desired Certifications such as:
Familiarity with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS/EKS).
Experience with AWS GovCloud or classified AWS regions.
AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or Solutions Architect
Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
Security+, CISSP, or equivalent DoD 8570 certification.
Exposure to monitoring tools (Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios).
