Job description

Montana Reclaimed Lumber is hiring a sawmill operator at our Gallatin Gateway lumber yard, just outside of Bozeman. Montana Reclaimed Lumber supplies custom lumber packages, including flooring, siding, timbers, paneling, and trim projects.

The sawmill operator has a variety of responsibilities and duties, including: milling lumber to specified dimensions, stacking and organizing milled products, tallying and numbering lumber for specified siding packages, cleaning up lumber waste from the milling process, and operating/maintaining a chainsaw and forklift. While prior experience will prove helpful, we are able to train and teach enthusiastic applicants willing to learn. This position does require the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis and work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, wind, snow, ice, and heat.  Applicants must be able to work independently, stay focused, and consistently maintain job responsibilities without direct supervision.

Sawmill Operator – Gallatin Gateway, MT (Near Bozeman)

Montana Reclaimed Lumber is hiring a Sawmill Operator at our Gallatin Gateway location. We supply custom lumber packages, including flooring, siding, timbers, paneling, and trim.

Responsibilities include:

  • Milling lumber to specified dimensions
  • Stacking, organizing, and tallying finished products
  • Preparing and labeling lumber for custom siding packages
  • Cleaning up and managing milling byproducts
  • Sorting and evaluating lumber
  • Operating and maintaining equipment, including a chainsaw and forklift

What We’re Looking For:

  • Prior sawmill or equipment experience is helpful, but not required — we are willing to train motivated applicants eager to learn
  • Ability to calculate things such as board footage, square footage and lineal footage
  • Ability to lift up 100 lbs. occasionally
  • Comfortable working outdoors year-round in all weather conditions
  • Able to work independently, stay focused, and manage responsibilities without direct supervision
