A Line Stander is someone who waits in line on behalf of a client, saving them time and effort. This service is often used for high-demand events, product launches, or government appointments. The line stander holds the spot until the client arrives or completes the transaction. It requires patience, punctuality, and sometimes standing for long hours. Many line standers operate as freelancers or work through agencies that offer this service.
To excel as a Line Stander, you should have excellent time management, patience, and reliability, as well as the physical stamina to stand for extended periods. No formal certifications are generally required, but using a reliable smartphone for client communication and scheduling apps is often necessary. Outstanding customer service, punctuality, and clear communication set top performers apart in this role. These attributes are crucial to ensure clients receive timely service, maintain trust, and handle unexpected delays professionally.
Line Standers often work during early mornings, evenings, or on special event days, depending on client needs and high-demand openings. The role typically involves waiting in lines at various locations such as stores, government offices, or venues, both indoors and outdoors, sometimes in changing weather conditions. Assignments can last anywhere from one hour to several hours, and Line Standers may work independently or as part of a small team for larger events. Flexibility and a willingness to adapt to different environments and schedules are key to success in this role.
