Job description

Senior HR Business Partner / HR Generalist

Role can be filled at either the Senior HR Business Partner or HR Generalist level. The Senior HR Business Partner salary range is $93,800 to $104,000 and the HR Generalist salary range is $72,900 to $81,000. Both levels include a comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus, 401(k) with company match, employee stock purchase program, medical, dental and vision benefits, and paid time off.

Location & Relocation

This role will be onsite 3–4 times weekly at our Clinton Power Station in Clinton, Illinois. A full relocation package is offered for those who need to move to the area.

Primary Purpose of Role Senior HR Business Partner

Partnering with all levels of leadership within the business unit, aligns HR strategy with business goals, direction, and vision. Provide proactive professional HR guidance and support to internal clients with the goal of adding value to the overall business as well as impacting the Constellation enterprise in attainment of strategy. Working under general direction, supports assigned client group and implements HR strategy in partnership with HR leadership to support business unit goals and objectives. Supports the change management process across the HR organization as well as directly with respective client groups.

HR Generalist

Provide professional advice, guidance and implementation in partnership with line management regarding workforce planning, employee relations, and staffing. Ensure HR integrated support of business strategy and goals. Interpret, implement and execute Constellation's policies and programs.

Senior HR Business Partner – Primary Duties and Accountabilities
  • Champion employee engagement and workforce effectiveness planning and initiative implementation in partnership with the business and HR specialty areas, such as talent acquisition and diversity and inclusion.
  • Partner with business leadership to provide consultative guidance, develop and implement plans informed by organizational capabilities, structure, processes and competencies in alignment with business strategy.
  • Liaison to specialty HR functions and centers of expertise for optimal client support.
  • Lead or participate in enterprise-wide initiatives including, but not limited to mergers and acquisitions, HR and business transformation projects, as well as support and sustain change.
  • Drive integrated process focused on workforce and talent planning through assessment of talent pipeline and strategizing to foster strength, in partnership with HR leadership.
  • Evaluate and resolve employee relations issues, as well as evaluate and develop strategy for trends.
  • Provide input to COEs with goal of continuous improvement and innovation.
HR Generalist – Primary Duties and Accountabilities
  • Identify talent and workforce needs within client group and partner with HR Business Partner to develop plan to address gaps.
  • Drive and support annual processes in partnership with HR Business Partner and business.
  • Provide assistance on HR operational issues with business units and help to champion change.
  • Provide transactional support of employee and organizational changes.
  • Provide coaching and counseling to business to resolve employee issues, under direction of HR Business Partner.
  • Support recruitment activity as needed in partnership with talent acquisition function.
Senior HR Business Partner – Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • 5 to 8 years of strong HR operations experience or HR specialist area in a matrix organization.
  • Ability to provide verbal and written communications clearly, succinctly and persuasively.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including knowledge of EEO, ADA and FMLA.
  • Ability to understand problems in the context of the bigger picture and influential relationships as well as the overall industry and marketplace in which Constellation operates.
  • Strong drive for results to lead and facilitate efforts to ensure human resources alignment with the business unit.
  • Proven skills in coaching and performance management.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal directly with client leads to build consensus, establish trust, communicate effectively and foster culture change.
  • Ability to use research methods effectively including data collection and analysis.
HR Generalist – Minimum Qualifications
  • 4‑year degree in Human Resources or related field and a minimum of 2 to 5 years of strong HR generalist experience in a matrixed organization.
  • Proven demonstration of effective line management relations in a high performance culture with a strong sense of customer service, excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including knowledge of EEO, ADA and FMLA.
  • Knowledge of business (Energy Services or Corporate‑type background is helpful).
  • Strong drive for results to ensure human resources alignment with the business unit and/or site.
  • Proven management skills in coaching, performance management, and facilitating business competency.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal directly with line management to build consensus, establish trust, communicate effectively and foster culture change.
Senior HR Business Partner – Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree, MBA or Masters Degree in related HR field.
  • PHR or SPHR.
HR Generalist – Preferred Qualifications
