Job description

The Line Mechanic I is responsible for safely troubleshooting and repairing production equipment within the manufacturing facility and ensuring that quality products are produced timely and efficiently. 


Responsibilities: 

  • Safely troubleshoot and repair a production line efficiently and effectively in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), food/employee safety requirements and guidelines to ensure daily production goals are achieved
  • Effectively prioritize equipment issues in order of importance, manage downtime, and communicate issues to peers and leadership
  • Utilize Digital Production System (Redzone) to track downtime, perform quality compliance documents and communicate with support functions
  • Complete change overs for assigned equipment and/or production line
  • Perform preventative maintenance on assigned production equipment
  • Learn and maintain customer standards for product specifications and acceptable quality
  • Read and follow instructions regarding daily expectations, requirements, or specifications
  • Accurately complete all quality, traceability, and production paperwork
  • Reports any product deficiencies, food or safety concerns to supervisor
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary workstation and ensures all tools are accounted for
  • Follow all safety procedures and actively participate in safety training and safety system ownership initiatives
  • Maintain safe and efficient use of equipment, tools, and person; reports any injury, accident, or unsafe condition to supervisor immediately
  • Support and comply with GMP’s; understand and follow emergency action plan
  • Support food safety, quality, and legality
  • Ensure the operation is providing food-safe, quality products which meet or exceed all product specifications and regulatory requirements
  • Other duties as assigned
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of machine troubleshooting/repair experience
  • Technical skills include the ability to complete changeovers, administer preventative maintenance, repair one production line, and operate production equipment
  • Interpersonal skills include good verbal and written communication, good time management skills and the ability to follow rules and directions
  • Leadership skills include a positive attitude, being a team player and self-leadership
