Position Overview

As a Front-Line Manager in Training, you will participate in a structured six-week development program designed to prepare you for success as a Front-Line Manager within CarMax’s Service Operations department. This program equips you with the tools, knowledge, and leadership skills needed to manage operational processes and lead high-performing teams. Training includes learning the roles and responsibilities of Service Operations, understanding end-to-end production processes such as inventory management, and cosmetic/mechanical repair. Upon successful completion, you will transition into one of the following leadership roles: Flow Mechanical Manager, Flow Cosmetic Manager, Flow Supply Manager, Inventory Manager, or Service Manager.

Role Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate comprehension of training content throughout the program.
  • Support execution of store procedures and operational processes to ensure efficiency and compliance.
  • Complete CarMax’s Management Development Program and apply leadership principles in real-world scenarios.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain quality and meet production goals.
  • Model CarMax values by fostering integrity, respect, and a customer-first mindset in all interactions.
  • Prepare for transition into a leadership role, ensuring readiness to manage associates and drive performance.
  • Responsible for the Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) program for your department and/or location, including but not limited to self-inspections, hazardous waste disposal, workplace safety, and PPE.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to lead and manage teams effectively to achieve operational goals.
  • Strong skills in data interpretation and record accuracy for process compliance.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for interactions with associates and customers.
  • Proficiency in common and proprietary software systems.
  • Valid Driver’s License and flexibility to work in indoor/outdoor environments, including inclement weather.
  • Willingness to work on varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with occasional travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of management experience preferred.

The annual salary for this position is:

$54,500.00 - $95,500.00

May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Benefits:

Except as otherwise required by state law, CarMax Associates are entitled to the following paid sick, vacation, and holiday time.

Associates that are considered full-time hourly or commission/incentive eligible:

  • To earn up to 48 hours of sick time per year accrued on a per pay period basis and between 80 hours and 200 hours per year of vacation time after a 90 day waiting period depending on years of continuous service with the Company. 
  • For 8 hours of pay for each of a total of 6 paid scheduled holidays per year plus 1 floating holiday.  If such an Associate does work on a scheduled holiday due to business need, they are eligible for Holiday Premium Pay. 

Associates considered full-time salaried are entitled to paid time away with no specified limit as needed for sick, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, floating holiday, etc. subject to manager approval.
