Line Cook – Full time 

Spice n Vybe, an Afro-Caribbean fast-casual restaurant in Oakland Park, is looking for a Line Cook to join our kitchen team. We need a cook who can hold down the line during busy service and put out consistent, quality plates.
If you work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen, take pride in your craft, and want to be part of a tight-knit team, we'd like to meet you.
Responsibilities

  • Set up and stock the kitchen with all necessary supplies before service
  • Prep ingredients (chopping vegetables, portioning proteins, preparing sauces, etc.) according to our recipes and standards
  • Cook menu items consistently and to spec on fryers, range, and grill
  • Plate and present dishes according to our presentation standards
  • Work cleanly and efficiently during peak hours, keeping up with ticket times
  • Follow all recipes and portion guidelines to maintain consistency
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area throughout the shift
  • Properly label, date, and store food following FIFO and food safety standards
  • Communicate clearly with the kitchen team and front-of-house staff
  • Break down and deep-clean the kitchen at the end of service
  • Follow all health, safety, and food handling guidelines
  • Participate in team meetings and other duties as assigned
Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Line Cook or Prep Cook in a fast-paced restaurant
  • Familiarity with Caribbean, African, or soul food cuisine is a strong plus
  • Comfortable working all areas of the kitchen — fryers, range, and grill
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • ServSafe / Food Handler certification is a plus (or willingness to obtain)
