Qualifications:

  • Prefer candidates with an associate's or bachelor's degree in a science field.
  • Prefer candidates that have experience analyzing environmental samples.

Responsibilities: 

  • Analyzing wastewater samples for Total Suspended Solids, Fecal Coliform, Ammonia, pH, biochemical oxygen demand, and a variety of other tests
  • Analyzing solid samples for %TS and %VS
  • Collecting air samples for analysis
  • Using a microscope to properly identify bacteria in wastewater samples
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment, including incubators, autoclaves, dissolved oxygen probes, pH probes, analytical balances, etc.
  • Collecting wastewater treatment samples
  • Proper sample handling, including chain of custody procedures
  • Creating accurate sample fractions from parent samples
  • Receiving and logging chemicals and other supplies
  • Proper laboratory documentation
  • Creating, updating, and maintaining standard operating procedures
  • Cross-training as needed to provide support with industrial sampling
  • Following laboratory and field work safety protocol and using necessary PPE at all times
  • Proper disposal of environmental samples
  • Accurate data entry in LIMS
  • Data validation
  • Serve as backup for the industrial pretreatment sampling program.
