Microsoft Purview Engineer

Essential Criteria:

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, related field,
  • and/or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in Microsoft Purview, data governance, compliance,
  • and information security
  • Hands-on experience administering Microsoft Purview and Microsoft 365 Compliance features
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams)
  • Experience with Azure services (Azure SQL, Data Lake, Storage, Synapse)
  • Understanding of data classification, metadata management, retention, and DLP
  • Experience using PowerShell for administration and automation
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to translate compliance and governance requirements into technical solutions
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including collaboration with Legal,
  • Security, Privacy, and IT teams

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, and enhance Microsoft Purview solutions for data governance, information protection, and compliance
  • Implement and manage data discovery, data mapping, classification, and lineage for structured and unstructured data
  • Configure sensitivity labels, retention policies, DLP policies, and data lifecycle controls
  • Integrate Purview with Azure data services, Microsoft 365 workloads, and third-party data sources
  • Support regulatory and compliance initiatives including GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001, and internal governance standards
  • Develop technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and governance frameworks
  • Serve as the primary administrator for Microsoft Purview and the Microsoft
  • Purview Compliance Portal
  • Manage role-based access control (RBAC), permissions, and administrative delegation
  • Monitor system health, audit logs, alerts, and policy effectiveness
  • Perform ongoing policy tuning, maintenance, and optimization
  • Troubleshoot incidents related to data classification, labeling, retention, and DLP enforcement
  • Coordinate platform upgrades, feature rollouts, and configuration changes
  • Ensure compliance configurations align with organizational policies and Microsoft best practices
  • Support eDiscovery, Audit, Insider Risk Management, and Information
  • Governance workflows
  • Respond to compliance requests, investigations, and audits in collaboration with Legal and Security
