Job description

Essex Industries operates in St. Louis, Missouri; Huntington Beach, California; and Milford, Connecticut, serving local, national, and international customers across both military and commercial markets. The company specializes in manufacturing platform controls, aircraft components, liquid oxygen equipment, and emergency breathing systems. Essex is currently seeking a skilled Welder to join our team. In this role, you will perform horizontal and vertical welding on a wide range of metals and alloys, producing high-quality products designed to meet rigorous strength and pressure requirements.

Essential Duties

  • Primary focus on TIG/MIG welding & finishing
  • Perform under general supervision, a variety of tasks requiring a thorough knowledge of welding techniques, tools, machines and equipment.
  • Work from engineering drawings, blueprints, rough sketches and MI’s.
  • Inspect completed work for conformance to specifications.
  • Perform all work with adherence to safety procedures.
  • Complete all required documentation in a timely manner

Required Education/Experience/Certifications:

1-3 years technical training and at least one year of experience working in welding position or equivalent of the two.

Required Skills:

  • Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret instructions.
  • Math Ability: Ability to know measurements.
  • Blueprint reading: working knowledge of blueprints
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  • Work Environment: Shop; Moderate noise level with welding fumes, airborne particles and vibration
  • Working Conditions: Somewhat disagreeable working conditions. Exposed to any number of elements and with one continuously present to the extent of being objectionable, or with several elements present to the extent of being objectionable but usually not more than one at a time.
