Summary:
The Environmental Services Technician I is responsible for the daily cleaning of patient rooms and associated ancillary areas, supplying rooms with paper products, and discharge room cleaning utilizing accepted practices and procedures. Additionally, they contribute to patient and guest relations by promoting a positive image of the hospital and adhering to established standards.
Responsibilities:
  1. Is responsible for the daily cleaning of patient rooms, supplying rooms with paper products, and discharge room cleaning utilizing accepted practices and procedures.
  2. Responsible for daily cleaning of support service areas as assigned.
  3. Demonstrates knowledge and efficient use of cleaning techniques, solutions, equipment, and tools. Uses appropriate chemicals, supplies, and tools for each task.
  4. Provides preventative cleaning service for occupied patient areas according to the Ten Step Interactive Cleaning and High-Profile Cleaning Procedures. Performs discharge cleaning of patient areas according to the Interactive Discharge Procedure.
  5. Performs terminal cleaning of walls, lights, and ceilings, including the use of UV light technology.
  6. Adheres to all hospital and department standards for patient and guest relations. Promotes a positive image of Akron Children's Hospital.
  7. Maintains high standards, works at a steady pace, and achieves high QA scores.
  8. Performs discharge cleaning of patient areas according to discharge procedures.
  9. Fill in to support other Support Services areas as needed to ensure operational efficiency.
  10. Follows written and verbal instructions accurately and completes other duties as assigned.
