Description:

The Lifeguard is responsible for the successful operation of the aquatics department, along with continually overseeing the activities at the aquatic center while providing outstanding customer service to the members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the safety of the facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies
  • Enforce all aquatic center policies, rules, and regulations
  • Work and directly communicate with the Head Lifeguard/Manager on a daily basis
  • Ensure implementation of all safety programs and cleaning procedures
  • Constantly strive to improve the present level of business through the use of all current customer service policies
  • Constantly strive to improve the appearance of the pool area through a daily pool maintenance checklist.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and conduct himself or herself at all times in accordance with the corporate standards of business conduct found in the Employee Manual
  • Continue to develop professional status through continued training and education as outlined as a Red Cross Lifeguard
  • Answer questions regarding pool rules quickly and remind them where they are posted
  • Stay alert at all times when in the Lifeguard Chair, consistently scanning entire zone
  • Follow the guard rotation schedule as outlined by the Head Lifeguard/Manager to ensure coverage of the scanning
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must have aquatics knowledge
  • Must have the ability to work at 5am weekdays
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Thorough knowledge and application of life guarding surveillance and rescue techniques
  • An understanding of facility policies, procedures, and rules
  • Leadership qualities and public relations skills

REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers with First Aid
  • Certification can be provided
  • Other certification agencies accepted
  • Must be 18 years of age
